Voluntarily back in the office

Only 2 days a week but I have to admit I'm enjoying it. Don't know what changed really but I've been starting to find teleworking 100% of the time extremely boring. My girl also works from home so that could be it lol.

Only been here 2 hours so this could change.

I'm bored as hell at home. Office is like 4 minute drive and I'm constantly like I'm bored should just go in but then can't make myself do it. When I'm required to which is only like once a month I actually enjoy it now.

Gets old looking like a filthy hobo all day cuz I just rolled out of bed and wandered downstairs to my office

I am allowed to go to the office 2 days a week. We have a gym and showers and I had planned to go in 2 days a week and workout there . Went in a couple times, sitting in traffic for 45 minutes on the way home i said screw this. (18 minutes if no traffic)

I'm still 100% remote I haven't been in an office since pre pandemic times

Like it better this way but maybe if my job was more tolerable I'd enjoy the office once inawhile

Worst thing about the office is the commute. It just isn't worth it unless you literally live across the street from where you work.

Yeah my coworkers are all dudes and all of a similar age so it is pretty fun when we see each other in person.

how far is it?

I'd say take the bike there but then again you're probably American and you guys hate bikes for some reason lol

Leaving my WFH job was the biggest mistake I ever made srs but I had no choice because I got fuked financially by inflation and they wouldn’t give me a raise.

I do one day a week, and I admit that it's not bad getting the change of scenery. I insist on always trying to start my workday at 6am, and making it to the office by then can kind of suck. Otherwise, not too bad overall.

shame, I do about 12 miles one way to work by bike and it's pretty nice most of the time

you have to be careful here as well of course but at least people are aware there are bikes on the road lol (separate bikelines mostly even, but they cross with regular traffic often)

but 19 miles seems a bit much anyway, unless you go ebike but that chit is for absolute ****ggots (srs)

That makes traveling without taking any vacation much more problematic.

For instance I'm chilling in SoCal all week and still able to log in a few hours a day and get all my work done. I couldn't do this week trip nearly as often if I had to be in an office for part of it.

All it takes is one morning to wake up and wish you didn't have to wear office attire, scramble to get a lunch prepared, and commute both ways dealing with traffic and red lights. One day you'll be a few minutes late thinking "if only I worked from home today."

If you're bored while working from home, put on a movie, play a video game on the side casually, do some chores while getting paid for it, etc.

Man, I miss WFH. More productive with less distractions, really able to focus on just putting my head down adn clearing through stuff without being asked questions 24/7. Even when we had people coming off furlough and I had to deal with them over zoom/email - and my god some people are infuriatingly stupid - it was still so much better than being in-office. And I say that as someone who gets on well with my colleagues to the point I'm uncontrollably cry-laughing at least once a month with the schit we talk.

Just looked into getting a role that could open to be being more remote, thinking it'd potentially be a 15% paycut - brutal, but was considering going for it on the grounds it'll open up new opportunities as it relates to data analysis, plus the take-home pay wouldn't be so bad once factoring in travel costs etc, but then was told the salary would actually be more like a 25% paycut, and even that's on the high end. Fuk that.
