Canadian Hospital system is inept, kills people.

Recently Ive been having to frequent a hospital to visit someone. The amount of ineptitude is staggering.

Some things witnessed for people hospitalized:

They completely forget to feed you, sometimes for whole days

Nurses, doctors do not communicate at all and intervention of your Family Doctor is not allowed, at least in my province (this one still blows my mind, its like they intentionally want you to suffer)

Misdiagnosed problems, they ignore you if you try to correct it

Lies, miscommunication, whatever it takes to get you out

After 30 days they send you home with a loaf of bread and peanut butter, even if you are still needing hospitalization

--

Its brutal boyos, free health care is a broken system

Ive used hospitals myself before and had some chit tier nurses, but for the most part I was able to get in and get out. Worst part being maybe an 8 hour wait with a broken leg.

Cliffs:

Praise to odin that you do not need to be hospitalized for more than a day at a Canadian Hospital.

Don't worry. With the latest euthanasia policies you won't have to wait for long in a hospital anymore.

Canadian Health Care System in a nutshell

- "it's free"
- "just pay 30% of your income + 13% taxes on purchases"
- "still have a chit system, we need to tax people more!"
- brb 3 year waiting lists for transplants and 10 hour waits for emergencies in a hall
- solution: wait times too long? well, we've introduced legislation so you can legally kill yourself!
- BC: let's decriminalize drugs and provide safe spaces for heroin use to reduce stigma, that'll help!

I noticed the incompetency in BC as well.

Grandma had a gall bladder attack so went to the hospital, they kept telling us the specialist needs to see her but he will come in the next day. They said this for 6 days everyday, she was hospitalized for 6 days doing nothing only for them to come tell us that she needs to go to another hospital and transferred her finally. She ended up needing surgery.

I personally had so many bad experiences with the healthcare system as well. One time I needed to see a ENT because I lost my sense of smell after getting sick years ago.
Took 6 months to see the ENT, took another 6 months to get a CT scan, then took 8 months to see the ENT again only for him to tell me there is nothing he can do lmao.

Is total failure the only way this gets better? It seems to get worse over time, or maybe it always sucked?

You say that, but it is better than America, where a ton of your people would not even go to the doctor at all to avoid the bill.

LOL at their latest treatment option, 6ft of rope and a small stool.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I remember when I was in John Muir hospital here being treated for acute pancreatitis

They got me addicted to opioids and benzos IV for days, then one day they completely miss my scheduled dosages and I start withdrawing

I must have waited 6 hours for them to give me my IV meds and they never did

So I ripped out all the IV's in my arm, threw chit all over the place, triggered the security alarm, got my chit, walked out the hospital then got into a fight with a big nurse cuz they said I couldn't leave, and as we were scraping I got tackled by 5 nurses and 1 security guard

Some witness saw the whole thing and asked if I wanted to press charges

I just wanted to go home, so I ended up driving off as the nurses and security guards watched me

In the end hospitals are both good and bad, my life has been saved by emergency surgery, but there is a hell of allot of incompetence going on today FOR SURE

I avoid hospitals unless I think I'm dying

illegals get free healthcare.

we are good at acure care. gunshot, stroke, heart attack.

anyuthing involving long term care, diseases, treatments - we suck cuz of over reliance on big pharma and 10 billion regulatrions handcuffing doctors.

They are really fukng bad

I had to convince them to take a scan cuz I had stomach pain and hes like "well that is in your appendix area but thats highly unlikely.. I am willing to bet that its not."
I convince him to scan it and it was my appendix.

I told them to test heavy metals / arsenic and they said why would we do that?
found high arsenic in my blood

they continue to do stupid sht like deny blood tests I ask for cuz they think they know everything
literally every problem I have and describe the symptoms to them.. they dont pause for a second to tell me what it could be from or how to solve it. They just know the drug for it and try to get you out as soon as possible.

Incompetence is one thing. Long wait times is 100% a government spending issue. The island racked up 10s of millions of dollars in fly in nurses because of the lack of in province nurses.

Was recently in ER on the mainland and was looked at within 1/2 hour. This was at 3 in the afternoon. I asked a nurse if it was normal that patients go to triage and be seen so quickly and she said it depends on when doctors and which doctors come on shift. GP working ER require that patients hold the room while all your vitals are looked at. ER docs more experienced can let the bed go to the next patient while tests are done for you because they know what/how to juggle patients.

Currently doing daily treatments at the hospital and have to say the staff has been stellar. So maybe I've been lucky. I mean I'm there 5 days a week and have no complaints and I don't see people being fed up.
