Anyone here still have good life advice srs (30 yrs old)

Cliffs:
-Grew up suburban
-Graduated and worked at a bank
-Did sales and killed it the first 2 yrs ($6-14m funded est)
-Recruiters offering me bonuses but..
-Now I drink 3-4x a week till I'm blind

Used to lift and have discipline, character, and morals but degenmaxxing is okay as long as I drink enough. What does misc think about this?Anyone pull themselves out of the rabbit hole? srs
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Not sure if srs. If you read your own OP and not immediately see what you need to change, then you already killed off too many brain cells to turn it around. Or in other words: Tours over boyo.

You should probably cut back on the booze, since it’s what is getting you to a point where you degenmax. It’s typically not a healthy habit to drink, but when it’s making you do chit that you would not normally do, and aren’t proud of, you definitely need to take a step back.

Just about to turn 32. Started heading down the same path as you. Had a job that took me across the country every other week, started drinking way too much, did all sorts of ridiculous things, had no stability whatsoever and I was spiraling.

1) Don't let your job keep you from doing your life the way you want to do it. Coworkers don't have to live with you, but you have to live with you.
2) Decide. Don't give yourself the choice. Write down what you want to do and do it. Want to work out every day? Do it. Want to eat right? Do it. Screw your feelings, do it anyway.

That's all I've got. And seriously, stop drinking so much, become comfortable being uncomfortable and stop covering up your feelings of inadequacy with alcohol and instead focus on becoming adequate.

Find something better to replace the bad habits you'd like to break. It's easy to say stop drinking, but unless you are able to replace that activity you'll have a hard time stopping.

Put yourself in a position to be around people who want to better their lives. Church groups, gym classes, outdoors groups etc... Look for an activity that you're comfortable with and that you enjoy doing.

PM me if you need help with find something to fill your time, I've been in your shoes.

The most important thing I have ever done for personal development is get over myself.

I am no where near as important as I believe myself to be. When I say things like “opinions don’t matter”, I am referring to my own much more than anyone else’s.

No one cares enough about me to focus attention on me to “get me”. So no one is out to get me like I would try to tell myself.

If I ever do run into trouble, it is not because someone else “got me”, but because I did something that was worthy of getting in trouble.

That mindset facilitates growth and freedom from judgment unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Just another testament to how destructive the ego is.

You can’t grow if you don’t feel like you have room to grow.

For these reasons, I actively try to give ip personal opinions, which I have found to be effective and beneficial concerning mental and emotional well being.

This is a little harder for most people, and understand people will have reasons to be against this (mostly egotistical reasons), but I have gotten to the point where I am giving up my own identity.

The things we typically use to associate personal identity with actually have nothing to do with who or what we are.

We are not our thoughts, we observe them. We are not our religion, we practice/believe it. We are not our favorite sports team, we are not our alma-mater, we are not our nationality. I am not my job, it is a tool I use for money. etc.

Yet these are the things we identify as. These are the things that lead us to have opinions and judgements about other people. It isn’t who they are either.

This mindset has lead to me being able to have stronger and more meaningful relationships. However, most importantly, I am learning who I am.

Knowing I am not these things, I can separate myself from any problem someone may have with these things.

A primary reason we get upset with peoples opinions is because we have an emotional attachment to what they are talking about. We literally take it personal.

Being able to detach myself from ideas has been extremely helpful for me.
“The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood. Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.“

PS: Don't eat poop, just don't let the idea of it stop you from living life to its fullest.

"Anyone here still have good life advice srs (30 yrs old)"

OK OP....you made this a very general question.
I, as an old fossil and maybe the oldest here, will throw out the "life" tips I live by.

Not in any particular order:

Avoid getting involved with the pointless drama of the outside world.

Life is hard, quit complaining and get used to it.
The world does not owe us any understanding.

Knowing life is short & fleeting reminds us that we should live our lives to the fullest.

Treat others as you would want to be treated.

Think before you speak.

Talk less, listen more....just because one has an opinion that does mean it needs to be expressed or that anyone actually wants to hear it.

Cherry pick one's battles in life....only choose the ones that will most likely achieve the positive end result one is looking for.

Know how to behave in a world that doesn't revolve around YOU.

Every day is good day...it's attitudes that can suck.
If you're above the dirt this morning, revel in it.

Set the best example of honesty, integrity and respectable behavior & judgement among all in your friend/family orbit.

Never ask a question if you don't want an honest answer.

We are totally accountable for ourselves and personal outcomes so don’t blame the world for ones’ lack of well-being or good fortune.

Don't confuse knowledge with wisdom....know the difference and strive for each.

It's been said...."only boring people get bored". Search for something that gives you personal satisfaction in life and excel at it.

Hope that helps.

Carry on....

Make a plan to become the best sniper out there and find yourself a reason to use your sniper skill.

The best sniper may have to work to cover his bills but anytime he's not at work he's practicing and working at his trade. He has a mission he must complete and it is going to take hard work and dedication to achieve that mission. Hours of mental training and being in peak physical condition to hit his shots.

A sniper can get drunk every now and then but he knows what those drinks will do, slowing reaction time and having difficulty focusing when the time is right.

Become a sniper.

I would add a bit of forgiveness. We are not perfect beings, nor are the people around you. Just because things are not perfect doesn't mean you should stop trying.

Distance yourself from negative people. That gets really old. The guy that never has anything positive, or never has a positive suggestion isn't doing you any favors and has some strange chip on their shoulder. Nothing you can do there but stay away from it

Good luck with what you are looking for OP.

If you are drinking to that level 3-4x a week, you should seriously consider stopping entirely and seeking some counseling for that so that a downward spiral does not continue. There is nothing wrong with having a drink or two a couple times a week, and it can even provide some benefits, but blacking out multiple times a week is not it mane. I know the feeling of occasionally getting carried away and feeling like a POS afterward, but I'm talking more about quarterly occurrences and not several times a week.

It sounds like you have been on a decent path otherwise. I went through a rough patch last year while separating from my wife, but getting back in the gym more or less daily and onto a disciplined diet has been a huge help. I suggest you do the same. You don't want to LDAR at 30 and either die early or look back when you're older and realize you wasted your life. Also, if you are surrounded by friends who are also degenmaxxing, you likely need to distance yourself from those people a bit and rely on friends/family who are on the right path for support.

If you like where your life is headed keep going. If you don't, quit drinking and change paths. Its really as simple as that.

As an alcoholic that has been heavily drinking daily for the past several years, cut off that chit asap. It will slowly ruin your life and bring you to lows you never thought possible. Took me months of sober hell to pull myself out of that pit of despair. Even now most days are still a struggle. Get in touch with your inner self, purpose comes from within. Look deep and find out what you want out of life. Its all on you, no one can give you the answers.
