Come say howdy to Soda Milk
Brahs,
I hope you’re all doing good tonight. I wanted to post this good boy here, as he came home with me from the shelter today for hospice care. His name is Soda Milk (the shelter named him, don’t ask me why), and for the foreseeable future we’ll be making him as comfortable as possible.
He is nine years old and has cancer so we are just trying our best to make sure that he spends his time living a good life.
Today we got a nice lil’ cat bed, a blankie, some pâté snacks, a very very light bath to get some of urine/feces off of him, got our Subq fluid drip in, and napped on my couch together.
He is a very gentle boyo and only wants to love and be loved. He does not have a lot of energy so he likes to relax and be pet.
Say howdy to Sodie!

I also have another foster who isn’t yet comfortable enough to leave hiding but as soon as she does I will post a picture of her for the boyos.

Hello, Soda Milk. You are lucky to have TypeNirvash as your guardian angel.
@TypeNirvash, I missed you so much, no homo or maybe a little homo.
What are you doing? Is that a job OR...

Anyway, please stay as long as you can, this time. *bow*

It is really nice to see you out here on the misc still doing your thing! Thanks for always being a positive influence.I am a foster for my local shelter, and work mainly with paralyzed, or incontinent cats. It’s volunteer work, but I feel like it’d be a dream job if it could be a job
He is very skinny, but he is a beautiful cat. I agree, he was definitely a handsome boy (and still is)!

Howdy Soda Milk! What a sweet handsome boy! So awesome that you're fostering him and giving him all the love he deserves. After my boo goes to the rainbow bridge (hopefully no time soon!) I'd love to foster senior and/or hospice dogs.

I’m currently trying to get my other foster, Marny to come out from hiding because I have to express her so I may not be able to respond for a little. If I can get her out I’ll try to get a picture of her for ya’ll.
Fancy new username but still my homie
Soda Milk says whattup!
You should absolutely do it if you have the opportunity! It is very rewarding in its own way, and you can often make a very giant impact in the life of the fosters you have.
I am a big advocate that disabled/incontinent animals can still live happy lives!

Yes, I can imagine it's super rewarding and really tough at the same time. Being able to give them the best last months/years of their lives, even as hard as it would be to lose them so soon. I have been saying this for years that I'd love to foster seniors/hospice dogs, so hopefully I will be able to go through with it.

it means so much more that they are comfortable with you when they’re normally shy! I bet she lived a very long happy life with you!We finally did it
Marny is out! Poor girl has had a really tough go of things so I have to be really careful with her. She was shot when she was a kitten, and it left her paralyzed in the lower half. That doesn’t stop her from scooting all over, and it was surprisingly hard to get her out because of that! She does have some anxiety being handled, but I am hopeful that I can also help her feel comfortable around people too. They said that it’s likely she will always be paralyzed but I’m going to try to do some PT with her. She came home with me today as well

Here’s a picture of her:

Thank you for everyone who gave him one last howdy. He was grateful to be a house cat one last time.

My plan many moons ago was after retiring, to start a rescue shelter for domesticated(no landsharks)
While obv not profitable I knew it was something my kiddos could carry on with the chance to make a difference for the less fortunate; they understand man is responsible for the animals
Unfortunately irresponsible pet-ownership is out of control leading to homeless Sodie's; doubled since 2020
Everyone wants that small cute pet until it grows & requires basic care.. sad
Will say a prayer for Sodie in Church today; all good cats go to Heaven
