I feel like they don't hype the dunk contest and the allstar week like they used to. I feel like this and the last few I didn't even know they happened. Has to be a marketing failure at some level

As a whiteboy and kid who grew up worshiping the NBA everything about it is garbage. First all star weekend I've even watched in 5 years and it was garbage. Let me know when Jason Richardson, Vince Carter, Gerald Green etc. are back in it and the judges, announcers, and players spectating aren't ****g0ts

Really the dunk contest has been ruined the past 10-12 years.. Lavine and Gordon def helped it, but in the "hater" era that current sports is.. there's literally no upside to competing in the dunk contest as an actual star.

Dominique and Jordan and Drexler and them never got hate or chit on for losing, it was always massive amounts of appreciation cause they did amazing dunks. But nowadays everyone just hates on everything, so why the hell would a star player hurt his brand (which is his $$) to literally get hate on.

It's even carried over to now that they introduced Dominique fukn Wilkins just as "the guy who beat Michael Jordan once".. like the narrative machine knows no bounds even 30-40 years later.

But this was a dope contest, I thought Trey Murphy had some crazy dunks and was super consistent
