Any Florida Miscers That Fish?

My youngest is graduating from HS this year. For 3 years we have been planning to spend Spring Break roaming Florida Fishing.

We are going down the east coast, probably to the keys into the Everglades and at least over to Sanibel.

We are looking for nice Jacks, Reds, Snook, Specks, Spanish, Blues, Tarpon and anything that pulls hard.

Freshwater oscars, cyclic and a big Florida LMB

We won't have a boat and will be on foot.


If you guys could help plan a bit it would be awesome.

This is probably the last trip we'll ever have.

You can fish around the bridges in Key Largo, but you would be better off getting a local guide. They’ll put you on fish, have knowledge on any species you want to target and overall will be more enjoyable.

lots of the fresh water stuff may be bedding but LMB will always be hungry

hard not to catch things from any salt water inlet, jetties etc

I know you said you want to do shore fishing but if its in your means... do a charter even if its a salt flats boat

I might. Oh yeah Peacock are definitely on the agenda.

Peacock , Snook and nice Jack Crevalle are the priority a Tuna off the beach small Permit.

Some aren't even in NC waters and Tuna never come close to the beach here.

If you know some ditches that are hot please let me know.


From what I see on YouTube in South Florida you can literally catch anything in these roadside ditches and canals.

Best advice is hire a charter and let them take you you will slay all them fish srs. Best time of y’all’s life lol

Can confirm. Fisherman are ****g0ts when you start talking about even bodies of water to go to. Let alone actual spots. Only way is a good guide. They are worth the money. Big boat charters aren’t bad and can be cheap. I paid only $60 once, but you’re with a bunch of random people. Caught a bunch and they fileted them quick and off you went with bags of fish

How about Piers?

Ocean side you guys can recommend for big blues Spanish etc?


On the Gulf side I went to Navarre and hooked into some huge shcit my travel rod couldn't handle.


Oh ladyfish are definitely on the list.


We won't be harvesting everything will be released.

piers nd bridges are not bad but good luck trying to land something good on em

lifting that SOB like 25 feet til you can get a hand on it

best bet IMO if at the mouths / estuaries / inlets from shore ....

not a fan of straight up beach shore fishing

I live in the Fort Myers area and due to the hurricane much of the fishing business apparently is not running.

With that said a neighbors son and grandson came down over the holidays. They were catching huge fish off the small bridge into the community. We figured with the lack of people fishing, the fish were better size than typical.

We own a pier net. That's not an issue.

Buy we don't know Florida and what's running when.

In NC we know when it's hot or not because the fish pass through.

its always hot ..... get hotter when the bait fish / shrimp are runnin

get the FL game app (FWC) can get a license on it and tells you

I only went fishing there once on a boat in south Florida. My son hooked this, but they didn’t even let us keep the fish, just got this fiberglass replica lol.



I mostly fish in the Northeast, so a lot of smaller stuff (bluegills, trout, etc). He’s only 7 so he’s happy enough with that.

You know how it is. As your kids become adults they get their own lives and families and get busy so getting out and doing these things becomes harder and harder until they stop.
