He's forgetting that there are only a couple of actual blue states. The rest are blue only because one or two very large cities out populate the rest of the state. If it actually came to what he's proposing, the cities would become wastelands in days. No food, no coal or ng for power and heat, no gas being shipped in.

History shows us why it is in governments interest to provide farm subsidies. When there is a food shortage is when governments most often collapse. Without subsidies there is no incentive to overproduce. Yes most of it ends up going to waste under normal conditions, but that is to prevent shortages if there are excessive droughts, naturals disasters, ect.

Let's see the biggest banking city is NYC. In a blue state. A dying city in a dying state.
Second biggest banking city is Charlotte, NC. In a red state. A very quickly growing city in a very fast growing state.


Since it was brought up, almost all farm subsidies end up in the pockets of huge corporate farms, not Ma and Pa with a small farm. The corporate farms grow corn and soybeans, for use in processed foods. Corn syrup and other sweeteners, and soybean oil. In reality the farm subsidies are huge subsidies to Pepsi, Nabisco, Kraft, etc. And very often members of Congress own farm land that's subsidized. The United States of Corruption.
