It's sad to consider just how many Americans were fooled into taking this. Heck, I remember some incidents in NYC where restaurant workers were getting 'fired' (not asked to come to work any longer) if they weren't vaccinated.

A friend told me that at the United Nations, there was this 'honor system' push, where "anyone who enters is considered to be vaccinated".

Russia put out a reply saying that it doesn't abide by that. LOL.

It's bullchit. He's misrepresenting the Cochrane review study, as are much of the media. Check the confidence intervals yourself. Then ask why a surgeon who isn't an expert on immunology or vaccination would lie to you about this? Then look at all the clout he got. Then ask yourself if he is a credible agent, as are any on that panel of usual suspects who essentially opposed any and all intervention to covid. Remember when Ioannidis predicted most of Cali already had it? Jay and Martin kept declaring the pandemic was over long before it was. Remember how they were wrong about literally everything and had we listened to them, millions more would potentially be dead? These are just the same GBD crew returning for clout again.

We are very uncertain on the effects of N95/P2 respirators compared with medical/surgical masks on the outcome of clinical respiratory illness (RR 0.70, 95% CI 0.45 to 1.10; 3 trials, 7779 participants; very low‐certainty evidence). N95/P2 respirators compared with medical/surgical masks may be effective for ILI (RR 0.82, 95% CI 0.66 to 1.03; 5 trials, 8407 participants; low‐certainty evidence).
This means the authors are uncertain on their conclusion, which doesn't mean masks don't work. It means they don't know. They totally can work, as you can see from the huge confidence interval. In other words, the meta analysis isn't saying much of anything at all. But that won't stop people from weaponizing it.

I'll also add that based on physics and actual laboratory tests, we actually know how well masks filter covid. Those studies have been posted a zillion times and are easily googled.

Inb4 Paul Fool's "muh n95 works like a sieve because I want to completely ignore electrostatic filtration hurr durr".

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…regardless of how sad it is, you have to admit the absolute brainwashing has been incredibly impressive. In just a few short years they took a group who pretty much outright hated pharmaceutical companies and questioned everything our governments did, and turned them into mindless robots who will not only accept any narrative but also defend it regardless of what conflicting information and data emerges.
