Take a day off at the end of the week for recovery.

For how many reps and what percent of your max?

If you are actually lifting, you are going to wear yourself out, and maybe not gain much, if you do the same thing daily.

It's better to blast once a week, heal, and return than to do the same thing daily.

I dont want to derail op's thread, but a quick question, is it my imagination or did you used to have way more reps?

Possible with very smart and very careful volume/intensity manipulation.

Not ideal for hypertrophy though.

6 days is max for me, I feel like if you're hitting with a good level of intensity every workout, you really need that 1 rest day

It is hard to sustain that and the benefits will be marginal, if any, could even likely be more detrimental due to the lack of recovery if you're hitting weights 7x a week

I was doing 5 and i'm hopping on 6 soon, but 7 is overkill

It works out okay for a while, but takes a toll on the ligaments.

I would recommend PPL 6 days a week and a rest day if you are wanting more.

I should, but do not.

I think I climbed like 30k points in a fairly short time, recently.

I hit PPLPPL and I will regularly skip rest days, mostly because I work 12 hour shifts and they may make me miss a workout here or there, but it isn't uncommon for me to workout every day I possibly can. However I question if I'm actually doing more harm than good this way

I don’t know how people train two body parts in one day. I wish I could but it’s too much for me. I just focus on one part each day.

I train 7x a week maybe 1 day off a month. Been doing it for years, roughly 215 8-10% body fat

Unless your nutrition and sleep is impeccable along with training splits I would not recommend for the average bodybuilder

Train hard enough so that you actually want to take days off.

No that split is going to fuk your joints bud
Work in a mobility / joint band work day and a core day or your elbows and shoulders are gonna fukkin feel having a push day, a pull day and a shoulder day potentially 6 out of 7 days a week.

How the fuk are your ligaments supposed to keep up with the workload from the muscles?

7 days a week is too much tbh. Even 6 days is almost too much depending on volume. I do 6 days a week, about 20 sets per day total. Just pay attention to what your body is telling you, thats the key.

I do a split quite similar. But I also break up my legs, no reason to segment your upper body and not your lower body.

chest/tri
shoulders/abs/cardio
quads/glutes
hams/calves/stretching

I used to train daily and never really schedule rest days. TBH I only train 4-5 days per week now and have better gains.

I actually like being in the gym on days I don't have to work. So if its an 'off' day I typically just do some stretches. Push/pull the sled. Hit the battle rope. Jump rope. Do prehap work. Etc. I feel way better doing this then just lifting all time.

Unless its your job. (Pro BBer, Athlete, Fitness influencer, etc.) the juice is not worth the squeeze. You actually may be hindering muscle growth by training too frequently. Muscle grows when you rest, not when you train.

I'm not a natty and I don't think training 6-7 days per week would be beneficial for me. If you're going to train that much you need to be injecting the good stuff.

i think people overlook the mental aspect of having to wake up and say "oh I gotta train today" instead of saying "it's an off/recovery day, I don't gotta train I can just relax and deal with other stuff".

This. I try to lift with enough intensity that I have lingering soreness that tells me I should have a rest day where I focus just on diet, getting enough 'normal' physical activity, and maybe some stretching so I'm ready to restart the rotation at full capacity. There are definitely times where I get extra motivated and decide to skip a rest day I planned on taking.

Never gone more than 5 days a week. Seems doable if you take deloads when needed.

Couldn't imagine 7. I love lifting, but not that much!

This is much more reasonable than op because it gives arm ligaments a chance to recover

It’s also fun to work the split for triceps/biceps on the shoulder day and split the core into back and chest days and move hamstring to back and quads to chest. Than dynamic movement / HIIT on the leg days.

For connecting kinetic chains and developing athletic movements.

Strong this.

I was doing a 6 day a week push, pull, legs for about 6 months to maximize gains from starting TRT. I was successful for probably 2-3 months, however got burnt out and am now getting way better results only lifting 4-5 days a week with much lower volume. (Ded fkn Srs)
