If you weren't invited there is no reason to go, but it would be a good gesture if you did. The few people that do know you at the service would be surprised see you, and see you as a considerate person if you showed up, because it shows that you cared at least somewhat. If anything, you can use it to get out of a day of work (bereavement).

Also there's usually a reception with a bunch of food afterward. The trick is to bring a plastic container, snag as many hors d'oeuvres as you can and get the hell out of there before you're dragged into idle chit-chat with people you hardly know, lol.

Same here, man. Actually, this seems to just get more and more common as years go by. Seems like nobody gives a chit when people die anymore, except when it was a younger person (in their 20's - 40's) who was decently socially popular at the time of their death. Old nursing home residents? Virtually no one seems to care when those folks die, and it's honestly pretty sad imo.

In a lot of ways having a large funeral is preferred because its easy to get lost in the crowd. I've been to funerals with only, like, 20-30 people and it sucks because they expect everyone to say brief eulogy about the individual.

funerals are low key a good way to meet girls srs

brb you show up to a great aunts wake and realize you've got a couple smoking hot second cousins or something.

it's actually pretty fun especially when y out know they're checking you
out and you then but it's not all socially acceptable.

It isn't a lack of care. They have already accepted their death and are okay with it. It is just part of life.

Younger kids are in denial about death. They don't contemplate it at all. Which I would suggest is one reason that time is generally wasted more than productive, and why that demographic dies doing stupid chit more than any other.

They just ignore it until it punches them in the face, then they act all surprised like they had no idea it was gonna happen.

It isn't that people stop caring. They just change their perspective on it.

I visited someone in a nursing home the other day. Most of those poor folks looked like no one has given a single chit about them or treated them with a reasonable amount of basic respect on 10 - 15 years.

Funerals especially in a Catholic church are not a place to mess around. With Catholics the funeral is not a joke and the mass will be longer.

Show respect for the deceased and grieving family. If you want to check out women, so be it.

Its up to you if you want to go. The family usually appreciates the support.

Man that has to be depressing. Nursing homes have a pretty significantly high STD rate though. Which I think is just awesome.

i have one at the end of my road. i looked on companies house as they charge upwards of 5k a month for the oldcells to be there.

they were cash rich of over 4 million squid.

i walk down the side of the building to cut through to my road on occasion and you can see through the windows of the bedrooms

it really is a sad state, very bland rooms - to think you are just left there by family to rot.

i would like to think they make friends, and there is a community there
