High crime places., When I lived in central Illinois, home prices didn't change much over a few decades. With that said, while home prices didn't increase much, Illinois taxes kept climbing higher and higher.

places where the jobs pay relative to the cost of living. so basically you arent making out unless you come from like NYC with ludicrously inflated real estate or you have a remote job for a company in a place like NYC

People act like they deserve to live in the center of a major city with all it has to offer and then whine that housing is expensive.
Places like Mississsippi and Indiana still exist and have plenty of affordable homes.

- high crime
- very bad weather

I still think Portugal looks nice. There are some good points to Bulgaria. And Mexico maybe. Malaysia.
IDK...rural BFE United States or some foreign country where you will have to deal with homesickness, a different language, and possibly may be more restricted in what you can do to earn money.
The upside of leaving the US could be no longer being in the country most hated by so many other countries. If you go to Europe they allow less BS in their food supply and have better healthcare access. Heck, nearly any industrialized country outside maybe Canada and the UK seem to be better for getting healthcare. But another country is likely going to be weaker re:trade and exchange.

Narsaq Greenland.
Last time I was there you could buy a house in the $80k range.

Utilities and cell service were a bitch but I bet with Starlink that's gotten better.

You can get places super cheap in the rural prairies here in Canada, I've rented in places where you can buy a house lot for a couple thousand bucks
