As a breed they are fuked up though with propensity for violence and flying off the handle.
There is a reason why the police don't use them as K-9 dogs.

Your math and stats suck. There are approximately 4.5 Million Pit Bulls in the USA but let's just call it 5 Million.
There are approximately 4.5 Million dog bites in the USA per year. Pit Bulls are known to make up 22% of those dog bites. More severe maulings they actually make up well over 50% but on just 'dog bites' they account for 22%. That comes out to nearly a million pit bull bites per year. If their total population is only around 5 million and they're responsible for 990,000 bites per year.............................your 99.99% safe number is ridiculous.

There are an estimated 90 million dogs in the U.S. and while there are no conclusive population counts by breed, we estimate that 20% (18 million) can be classified as pitbull-type dogs and their mixes:
Your math is horrible. There are nowhere near that many attacks. There's like 200 300 attacks per year out of 20 million pitties
Keep in mind that pitbull identification is very unreliable. They label every attack by a large muscular short haired dog as a pitbull attack
The dog in this video is labeled a pitbull attacking a german shepherd police dog and is clearly a mastiff

Dude these are easy stats to google with legit sources. Sure enough your "source" is a pro pitbull website. Any information they have has to be taken with a grain of salt.
There are an estimated 76.5 Million Dogs in the USA.
https://www.avma.org/resources-tools...hip-statistics(Legit Source)
It's been estimated for years that Pitbulls account for about 6% of all dogs in USA. That's 4.59 Million.
Dog Bites and attacks are two different things. An "attack" where somebody actually gets mauled and has to go to the hospital is obviously much less common but dog bites (still an attack) are very common per the number I sourced earlier. Pitbulls account for over 900,000 dog bites per year.
In any event it's not worth arguing after this both sides have their heels dug in. I (and most of the misc) don't trust them because the attack and bite numbers (and especially number of severe attacks or killing) are staggering compared to other breeds. That said even by doing some deeper digging and crunching the numbers........... 4 of 5 pitbulls are statistically safe. You can warp your own mind to try to convince everyone that they are just as safe as a lab or retriever but the numbers are what they are. As a breed they are more dangerous than other breeds.

Adjust for volume, those breeds attack just as much. Pitbulls are just way more common than rotties or Akitas
Keep in mind what I said about pitbull ID sucking. Lots of supposed pitbull attacks are by other short haired muscular breeds

This just happened locally:
SAN ANTONIO — Two American Staffordshire terriers were put down after killing an elderly man and injuring three others in a Friday west-side attack that San Antonio authorities called "horrific."
San Antonio Animal Care Services is investigating the incident, which unfolded along the 2800 block of Depla Street shortly before 2 p.m. The victim who died was identified as 81-year-old Ramon Najera, who was visiting a relative with his wife when the dogs rushed at them while they exited their vehicle, ACS officials said.
San Antonio Fire Department crews responding to the scene observed the man "being dragged by a dog (and) completely bloody before they got off the fire truck," Chief Charles Hood said.

There's more pitbull attacks than Rottweilers because pitbulls are super popular. There's like 20 mil pitbulls in USA
Mathematically speaking, like 0.00000001% of pitbulls are ever involved in attacks

19% of American dog population is a misleading stat. They're a huge percentage of the powerful guard dog breed population. Those are the dogs that do damage, not chihuahas and poodles
https://atts.org/breed-statistics/statistics-page1/
Pitbulls get a 85% on temperament testing. An excellent number
Any dog can be raised to be violent

Animal aggression and human aggression isn't the same
Some pitbulls are animal aggressive, although mine is fantastic with animals, but practically all of them are bred to be human friendly
Even in old fighting days, any pitbulls that showed human aggression were killed off. The human handlers had to be able to handle the dogs fighting.
With that being said, any dog can be raised to be aggressive. Most pitbull attacks are sh*t owners. Few them of are good ownership and the dog snaps but it's very very rare

There are not 20 million pitbulls in the USA.
The American Veterinary Medical Association an actual legitimate organization says there are 76.5 Million dogs in the USA. By your math that would mean 26% of them are some sort of pit or pit mix. You know that's not true.
The common stat that has been used for years from numerous organizations is that Pitbulls makeup about 6% of all dogs in USA.
