Wow...since I signed up a couple months ago I've just been a forum reader but had to post since I couldn't believe the discussion goin' on on a site where positive healthy people are supposed to be motivating other body-minded folk in their work outs. This really isn't the forum for all the negativity if opinions can't be respected and voiced like the adults we are...much less the forum at all for non body topics. My girl's gay uncle committed suicide three days ago though so I've been reading about religion vs. sexuality for the last couple days since intolerance of gays was a big trigger plus I have my masters in a related field. Being a Christian, after the suicide plus many other family traumas I've seen because of homophobia I gotta say something...From what I remember the professionals tell us... 1. Scientists agree pretty much across the board now that man portrays homosexuality with the same frequency of animals. 2. Scientists agree that sexuality is determined almost completely in utero and the Kinsey scale is probably the best representation of what sexuality really is since hetero and homosexual is too black or white, it's a varied percentage in every person of male actraction vs. female attraction but this is where a lot of the annoyance with some gay guys comes in since they gotta understand that no matter how pushy and persistent with their flirting and eye f*ing they wanna be there are indeed guys who are 0% male/100% female attracted so being sexualized may be plain uncomfortable and seen as harassment...it'd just be nice if they'd get that point across minus the anger. Other straight guys need to know in turn that heterosexual guys are like this too...how often do you go out and that creeper who just won't leave the girl alone who isn't interested? 3. Homosexual fruit flies cannot sense opposite sex phermones which are responsible for initial attraction and development of emotion...the same is believed of humans. 4. The Bible was once used as an argument for slavery, ban on eating shellfish, racial supremacy, mass execution, child blasphemer's executions, hell the Bible even says (Leviticus or Numbers I think) that if you find someone working on a Saturday it is you and your congregation's duty to put him to death. As we evolve socially, we must look past these versus which are not the message of the Lord...that brings me to 5. The only Bibles which make mention of homosexuality are English translations when that word has only been around 100 years. The verse in Leviticus "Thou shall not lie with man as thou lie with woman," which the New Life Bible has rewritten "Homosexuality is an abomination," means neither of these...the ancient Hebrew says simply, "Thou shall not lie with a man in woman's lyings," which many believe to mean don't have sex with another guy in a woman's bed, simply. It makes no mention of homosexuality, lesbians, marriage, etc. If you went by the Bible in English any marriage which fails to produce children is an abomination...what about couples who don't want kids? Should they be mocked and ridiculed to the point of suicide?
