And pretty selfish of you to NOT wear one to protect others, it only works if we all wear one......remember?

There was a comic book store my buddy took his daughter to a couple months ago, it was on the North Side, they walked in and some slimy, obese teenager told them they had to mask up, they walked out shaking their heads, he ran after them with a box of masks yelling how he has them, and he just drove away laughing.
It's now out of business, but hey, it was for the greater good......

They found no evidence that masks do work, which is the correct way to report a null result in scientific literature.
Calling this a misinterpretation will, itself, lead to further misinterpretation. If the studies are unable to find evidence that masks do work, how are lay people supposed to interpret that result? "Masks don't work."

Public safety during a pandemic is paramount.

Covid will forever be remembered as that time when even backwater high school dropout yuppies had more sense and intelligence than people with a PhD
Even if masks were proven to WORK they would never have made any meaningful difference because you can't get billions of people to wear them properly.

The review authors are clear on the limitations in the abstract:'The high risk of bias in the trials, variation in outcome measurement, and relatively low adherence with the interventions during the studies hampers drawing firm conclusions.'
Adherence in this context refers to the number of people who actually wore the provided masks when encouraged to do so as part of the intervention.
For example, in the most heavily-weighted trial of interventions to promote community mask wearing, 42.3% of people in the intervention arm wore masks compared to 13.3% of those in the control arm.

For example, in the most heavily-weighted trial of interventions to promote community mask wearing, 42.3% of people in the intervention arm wore masks compared to 13.3% of those in the control arm.

Authors' conclusions
The high risk of bias in the trials, variation in outcome measurement, and relatively low adherence with the interventions during the studies hampers drawing firm conclusions. There were additional RCTs during the pandemic related to physical interventions but a relative paucity given the importance of the question of masking and its relative effectiveness and the concomitant measures ofmask adherence which would be highly relevant to the measurement of effectiveness, especially in the elderly and in young children.

There is uncertainty about the effects of face masks. The low to moderate certainty of evidence means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited, and that the true effect may be different from the observed estimate of the effect. The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection. Hand hygiene is likely to modestly reduce the burden of respiratory illness, and although this effect was also present when ILI and laboratory‐confirmed influenza were analysed separately, it was not found to be a significant difference for the latter two outcomes. Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.
It would be accurate to say that the review examined whether interventions to promote mask wearing help to slow the spread of respiratory viruses, and that the results were inconclusive.Given the limitations in the primary evidence, the review is not able to address the question of whether mask-wearing itself reduces people's risk of contracting or spreading respiratory viruses.
The original Plain Language Summary for this review stated that'We are uncertain whether wearing masks or N95/P2 respirators helps to slow the spread of respiratory viruses based on the studies we assessed.'This wording was open to misinterpretation, for which we apologize."
Translation:"Do masks work?"
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Quite a wild ride, though, I'll give 'em that. Theyreallyknow how to dress up, "we still don't know."
It turns out that the human element was the greatest variable of all, but considering how countries like India still aren't wiped off the face of the earth, you'll manage.

Legislation Authorizes Sale of Alcoholic Beverages 'To-Go' for Off-Premises Consumption for Three Years
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that legislation allowing takeout drinks has become law as part of the FY 2023 State Budget.To-go drinks were a critical revenue stream for New York's bars and restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping many small businesses across the state pay their rent or mortgages.
