I wouldn't be surprised. The federal government has created a perfect storm by showing a history of bailing out companies "too big to fail." They just incentivized banks to take unnecessary risks and whoever can "offer" the biggest returns to it's borrowers/investor's gets the business. They know they will be bailed out. The problem is, is when they all start collapsing. It's inevitable. Letting them fail and forcing better business practices has passed us by.

Because there is no reason to believe that it will be an orderly process. If your individual bank fails and you can't access funds to cover your regular expenses do you believe the electric company or mortgage bank will just let you slide? Grocery store going to let you pick up what you want? Gas station okay with your filling up?

- don't want you to travel? well your card just won't work outside of your zone

I don't know if it can be stopped, but I also don't expect people to just accept it if there is any viable alternative for surviving and having a decent quality of life. Anyone who is dependent on government benefits [social security, disability] won't have a choice- you will take your CBDC payment or get nothing at all. I'm not ever sure how businesses will be able to avoid it if they need to pay taxes and fees to the government, or if they receive government funds, or if there aren't any banks operating that aren't using CBDC.

And I don't know how we will get from here to there, but this $25B bandaid to cover $650B in unrealized losses? I don't think the markets are buying it.




IMO they should have let the banks fail in 2008 and people should have been sent to jail.

No single bank should have been ALLOWED to be "too big to fail" and should have been broken up into 3 to 5 different entities if such a thing did happen.

But our government hasn't effectively regulated against monopolies and cartels in decades. The last [only?] big break up I can recall was the break up of Bell Telephone.
In 1984, AT&T's local telephone service was broken up into seven Baby Bells. The breakup gave consumers access to more choices and lower prices for long-distance service and phones.
