Nice, thanks. I still 'feel' it in inclined db curls - when I 'extend that far', sometimes I get a grinding in my right elbow. It goes away sometimes after a few reps, but yeah. I'm trying to do mobility work as well, more and more as I get older. We do what we gotta do, lol.

Do you guys do isolation work for triceps?

Sometimes I wonder if after years of a modified westside style template, I should do more 'vanity' exercises. Size from the triceps? And would maybe stretching those out more deliberately, with weight, help with overall health and mobility?

I try to stretch to do the rear hand grasp - I'm nowhere close, and if I use a towel my god, my triceps feel so f'n tight srs.

I have always done dumbbell incline press - for reps, two sets following flat barbell bench. Feels good, though sometimes more in my shoulders than in my pecs.

This. If you're lifting for longevity, there's rarely a reason to go over 100lb dumbbells for anything. If you can easily bang out 100x12 on the flat db press, then learn about pre-exhausting, and/or slow your reps down.

And dumbbell for bench and shoulder press movements. Barbell for rows, deadlifts, and squats.

All the time man. I choose moves with high stim to fatigue ratio. like a overhead rope extension, slow n controlled 10-15reps.
Anything targeting the longer head, but always warmup with a pushdown.

Thanks. I haven't ever specific tricep work, srs.

Maybe something like the first exercise here, as a finisher after my max upper body day?

Yesterday my max upper was:

1. Flat DB bench, 8 total sets including warmups, working up to a 5 rep max.
2. Incline DB bench, 2 sets max reps.

Superset: cable row, face pulls (I don't really feel these in my triceps much?) 3 sets, 10-12 reps

DB shrugs
Incline DB curls.

Happy to add a 'finisher' if that makes sense for my Mondays.

Barbell. Agreed with the others saying heavy dumbbells are too difficult and cumbersome to set up compared to barbell.

Also my experience with dumbbells is I get too much chest activation and too little shoulder

Ask and you shall receive. Plenty of options out there, but you get the idea.

When I'm not strength focused, I prefer using dumbells. Feels like I get a better chest contraction. With barbell, better tricep work. At least that's how it feels when I do them.

I'm also not a 100+ db bencher, so it's not awkward for me to get into position. If I end up really strong with them one day, it could change.
I'm back, bitches!

I tend to agree.. fortunately where I go only has 100lb max db, so I rep those out flat bench.. incline 75 x 8 x 3 every other week

Honestly I feel the flat bench in my shoulders, and the db bench much more in my pecs.

Yeah I do a bit of isolation work for triceps but I find that the incidental tricep work from flat and incline press is more than sufficient for proportionate tricep development compared to chest.

My gym's dumbbells max out at 110 lbs so I've just been progressing in reps. Once you're properly repping dumbbells between 100s and 120s (which mainly means breaking parallel on the eccentric) then for longevity it makes sense to progress mainly in reps, slowing down the eccentrics etc than aggressively increasing weight as that just beats up your joints.
