Agreed. My position is that this who find it weird should not attend.

the saddest part of all of this is that apparently the government needs to get involved. people should look at this and know it is wrong.

The thing is the whole thing is a troll. There is nothing stopping said drag queen from putting on a suit and sitting and reading to the kids without bring sexually inappropriate. It's supposed to be about the kids, but it's about the drag queens instead.

The drag queens could just act normal for once, and then everyone wins. But nah, gotta dress flamboyantly.
God damn wincel is coming strong AF today.
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Come on 'tard, the government already says kids can't go to strip clubs. Lots of things kids can't legally do.

I personally find it odd, but at the same time I accept it's their lives and wouldn't want others to judge me for not liking sports or enjoying video games and such, which is also 'odd', in the sense everyone loves sports and grown adults 'shouldn't' do certain things deemed childish. So, I'm odd too. I bet on some level every person is odd to someone. Nothing inherently horrible about oddities in my book.

That all out of the way, let's not act like drag queens are harmless men dressing up as women with no other subtext or context with it. That's like saying a Catholic Priest is just another responsible adult and it's fine to leave children with them unattended. I wouldn't.

Specifically with gay or drag culture, which I get are not one in the same but there is a lot of overlap, but there is an inherent sexuality to it all. For many, and I suspect the majority, it's not just about putting on women's clothing, there is something akin to a kink or fetish about it all. We've seen all the photos posted throughout this thread, enough drag queens strongly associate their proclivity with sexualism -- and seem to have no problems doing their thing in front of children -- that you have to levy some judgement to them as a whole. Granted, just like there are surely plenty of Catholic Priests who are not diddlers, I'm sure there are Drag Queens who are innocent and not an issue, but taken as a whole -- Not for children.

And, to be clear, that is as far as I go here. Just that this is not for children's eyes. Nothing more, no judgement, no hate, no wanting them not to be free to be themselves, just that anything that is so strongly of an adult nature (which this is) should only be done w/ grown consenting adults.

Now, what part of what I just said is something you take issue with?

Agreed.

I was comparing/contrasting this thread to the one the other day when the point was made that the government shouldn't even be involved with informing people that drinking bleach is dangerous.

In this thread, homos wearing dresses and feathers telling stories are so dangerous that the government needs to go further and place restrictions on their activities.

correct we don't need government to protect us from ourselves. But we do need the government to protect children, sadly, since there are jackasses in this thread defending exposing kids to overtly sexual individuals.

I agree again, and that's a reasonable take. Not to harp any longer on the warning labels thing, but they are also there to inform parents and protect children.

There are laws against indecent exposure, groping, sexual abuse, etc. and tens of thousands of people have been convicted of these crimes, so the government is actively involved in protecting children.

I don't know WTF the organization in the OP is doing actively targeting 3 to 8 year olds with their story time programs, it's fukked up IMO. There are a lot of fukked up things IMO tho, religion, drugs/alcohol, movies/music, gambling, fat acceptance, sexual fetishes, etc. that exist and children are inevitably exposed to. Actually "protecting the children" would require government involvement that many would applaud but many others would argue is overreach.

And we can do this all day long bro. Kids can't go to titty bars, can't buy cigarettes, can't buy alcohol, can't vote, can't have a job, etc...

Mr Yuck is one thing, but warning an adult to not drink a cleaning product...we're at a point in society that we should probably let those adults weed themselves out

There's no argument from me here. People in cities/states who are opposed to these activities should simply revise their laws and enforce them.

Where do we draw the line between the Government stepping in and parental rights? Like, I do not want my children exposed to this. I do not want schools to silently sneak it in classrooms or any of the horror stories you hear about -- But, let's say I was a weirdo and it's my children and I wanted to take them to one of these things, where is the line between parental rights and endangering a child?

Here, I lean towards protecting the children from weirdo parents, but my Libertarian roots are tingling, I might have to sit down and ponder that question before making a hard or definitive statement on it.

exposing children to something explicitedly sexual is the line.

here's an interesting one - kids are allowed at most nudist colonies BUT nudist colonies are not overtly sexual in nature

The one in Tennessee was discussed here recently too, and surprise surprise.. it was met with much liberal wailing and gnashing of teeth.

So age restriction on supporting events.

I'm opposed, but if you're okay with that, at least you're consistent.

And when these events are at school? Without a parent's knowledge?
