Why do Liberals believe all Trump supporters are low income, low skill trailer trash?

Is this the result of media/political manipulation?

The real owners of this country, the ones George Carlin talked about, the "Big Club" are 100% real. I would believe that but...

The Right is highly vocal about the Elite now. Media, academia etc. There is an utter distrust for all of these higher institutions of government and influence.

The Left is still busy believing that all of the manufactured media narratives about Trump are true. They are also vocal about calling out "conspiracy theorists" for believing anything other than what the media says. They feel righteous and trust the government because the government gives them a platform for validation.

So they don't have a lot in common.

There's a lot of truth to it OP and it's largely a result of conservative's self-fulfilling prophecies.

IMO it's fairly demonstrable that higher education tends to be more left leaning. Conservatives constantly tell us that believe that a college education "liberalizes" students.


Whilst it's BS that universities have some sort of cabal pushing liberal narratives or philosophies they do teach critical thinking skills which exposes you to new ideas. Frequently you need to assess polarizing perspectives and positions on a wide variety of subjects and argue for the best one to take.

Hence, you're trained to assess evidence from all perspectives and assimilate it all into a cogent argument. This teaches you the skills of skepticism which tends to help you cut through filibuster. E.g Trump's BS statements about immigration. Trump says immigrants are criminals and commit more crimes than citizens. That's not evidence based and academic studies show immigrants arelesslikely to commit crimes.

So when Trump says Mexico is sending rapists, someone with higher education will not accept it at face value and seek substantial evidence supporting it, which there is none.


This is why Republicans love conspiracy theories that universities are havens for Marxist cabals and secret narratives. They make people skeptical of getting higher education because uneducated electorate is easier to manipulate, so conservatives actually end up being quite uneducated.

A lot of people go to college and end up indoctrinated and more dumb. "Critical thinking" is often quite lacking and frowned upon in a lot post secondary education. I'm not saying ALL, by an means, by a significant portion. Especially in the "soft"er disciplines.

I've lost count of all the posters here who swear they're "not a liberal." But somehow they all seem to come down hard on the left side of most every topic, never criticize other libs or the DNC, and queef constantly at right leaning posters.

They do that because they want everybodyto thinkthey're neutral, and are so intelligent that they're above it all and not bound by ideology.
