Most countries birthrate is well below that required to maintain the population which is 2.1 children per woman. If the population collapses all sorts of issues will occur with not enough young people working to support the older generations (us). China is projected to lose about 200 million people by 2050, and if the birthrate isn't corrected the population will fall exponentially with time.

China can actually afford to lose 200 million. Hell look at the US, we're at like...what, 350 million? If we were at 250 million, how would that harm us? Hell, we'd be fine with 200 million.

You'll be in permanent recession, jobs won't be able to be filled. The amount of infrastructure won't change but the amount of people to maintain it will fall. Any form of retirement social security will completely fail.

The issue is that it is an exponential function which gets out of hand very quickly, and there is a quite large lag in correcting the birth rate and seeing the effects.
Once the birthrate falls below maintenance the next generation is smaller, so there are less people to have children, which means the maintenance birth rate needs to be higher than before. So you get a situation where the birth rate is going down, and the required maintenance birth rate is going up. With each successive smaller generation the problem gets harder and harder to correct.

This happens in all species. the exponential growth always levels off, the exponential term essentially disappears and it becomes a sine function with rates fluxating above and below 1. this is not alarming or unusual it is necessary. these are short term instantaneous birthrates, you cant determine yet if the population is going to collapse or just fluxuate around a mean. but all logic points to the population reaching a mean.


not to mention South Korea is one of the world leaders in automation and robotics. they don't need a huge population to be productive. one Korean guy with 5 robots can do the work of 50 Chinese slaves.

You must factor in women entering the workforce, this is a brand new thing and it is delaying (or outright preventing) them having children. There are societal pressures in the woke west to not have children, and the gender transitioning mind virus is a concern as it leads to sterility. I'm not sure how relevant it will be comparing us to instinctual animals living in the wild. I guess we'll find out in about 20 years.

It could just as easily lead to Korea being the goat country for its people for a while. there are too many factors to just go ahead and panic over low birthrates.

could easily play out as worker scarcity leading to higher pay leading to more young people having kids and stabilizing the population. businesses operating hyper efficiently with AI and automation and zero HR karens soaking up salary.
