A video review is like watching the news as opposed to reading a news article, a completely different concept from what I was talking about.

Same way I feel, well that and Xbox reviews which can be a good source of genuine feedback as well. It's all by gamers for gamers. Everyone who reviews had to of bought or played the game.

Dont know why you guys get so caught up with reviews and then claiming one part of reviews is a lot better than the other. Even user reviews are trash and biased because we all know how TLOU2 got review bombed with negative ratings the moment it released because loser incels were upset at the story.



I pretty much skim through all reviews, user and professional then take a look at the metacritic to see how it did, but more importantly if the game appeals to me I'll get it and test it for myself.

Yup, that's called pure objective feedback. Want to know what people don't like about it? Want to hear some criticism? Check out the negative reviews. If you can relate to it, there you go. Want to hear what some people like about it? Want to hear some praise? Check out the positive reviews, and see if you can relate to it. It's quite simple, and leads to people having a good concept on how real people feel about something.

Whats your point? I don't play halo, am I supposed to be bothered? The game has chit reviews because people thought it was chit lmao steam reviews doing just as I say, speaking the truth with no fluff.

But yeah, I trust someone's review who played 100+ hours and spent money on the game, more than I do someone who's job it is to review games and played a free copy devs sent them for as many hours as it took to make the video review.

Of course there are legit reviewers out there who do a great job with honest reviews. Steam is just the best because it's people like you and me reviewing them, not people who make a living and create a brand doing it. Even the most honest reviewers can reach a point where they tread carefully on reviews because they are scared of making enemies with big companies.


But let's be real, the best review is to just try it yourself. I have played and enjoyed many games that haven't reviewed well and refunded or regret purchased many critically acclaimed games. Steams refund policy is great for this, 2 hours played or 2 weeks owned. That's usually enough time to figure out if a game will be a turd.

Yup, that's why Steam and Gamepass are so wonderful. You can get a real feel for what games are like without the sunken cost fallacy, Steam's GOAT return policy is the best.

To be fair I think steams refund policy is something that is an absolute must for pc gaming. Alot of people have mid tier hardware and if a game comes out they should be able to play the game for a short amount of time to make sure they can actually run it. And obviously to make sure it's not a glitchy turd. Steam has alot more indy stuff so it can be a wild west in that sense.

Yeah that is very true, a lot of people seem to underestimate how many people are PC gaming on mediocre rigs.

That's not a really long time. You spend your money on something you're a big fanboy of and hoping it would be the best thing ever. If it turns out to be disappointing they probably thought if they continue playing that it clicks for them eventually.

I had that same feeling for cyberprank and Fallout 4. I really fuking wanted to like them but overall they were mediocre and I would not recommend.

Yeah, but the lowest playtime up there is 41 hours. Couldn't imagine playing that long if I don't like it.
