How much will it cost to male a PC as powerful as a PS5/Xbox series x

So a PC that is able to handle 4k gaming really well on modern titles?

Can you make one for the same price if a ps5?

More than you can afford, pal

and I highly doubt it ... your gpu alone will cost more than a ps5. Even if you try to dlss your way to 4k resolution you're gonna be sacrificing a lot elsewhere i reckon. reach 4k rez at low or very low settings lol.

doubtful. my old 3080 struggled with 4k, even with dlss, and i just sold it for $400. that is way below market value, and that's just the gpu. the ps5 as a complete system is only marginally more than that.

No you can't make one for the same price as PS5. Not anywhere close.

PS5 is your best bang for buck when it comes to graphics. It is a highly optimized closed system which allows devs to throw all their resources into fully pushing the potential of the platform.

If you're computer illiterate, get a console. I on the other hand like going from listening to music, and working on projects, to playing games, on the SAME device

Why the f would u need to listen to music and work on projects while gaming? When I use my xbox it's for GAMING I'm not checking the stock market in between blasting fools in Red dead redemption 2.

Series X has the quick resume feature that PC will NEVER have. BRB can boot off the console and reboot and your game isn't even paused lol.

No, it's impossible. You're looking at least triple the costs.

I built a 5900X and 3070 machine.... and still prefer to game on my PS5.

I was hunting down deals and used parts from Amazon Warehouse and it still costed $2000 (canadian dollars btw). If I had bought everything at full retail price, it would have been $3000.

It's just a preference that to have it all in one device. I'm guilty of getting a oled switch. there's a way to hack the switch to make it more open ended system closer to PC but I would have to open it up and and solder a mod chip. Skills which I do not possess. The switch collects dust now on my desk

Consoles are only designed to do 1 thing at a time. When it plays a game, it dedicates almost all of its memory and resources into playing the game. PCs don't do that as they run a lot of parallel programs so its very hard to compare exactly what a PC would cost if it was to perform just like a console.

If you could build a PC to do just 1 thing at a time the components themselves would be around $750-1,000 depending on how bargain basement you can get

Basically, consoles can't multitask, period. They are stupid niche computer devices. I loved nes and genesis but I grew out of those devices

You can make a Gaming PC comparably as powerful for 700ish and a lot more powerful for 800-1200ish.

That being said. Console games come pre-optimized so that they typically look/run better out of the box. To do the same with PC you watch a youtube video on what impact the sliders do in each game. Thing figure out what has to drop to medium and what stays on Ultra.

It's nice being able to alt-tab to porn or misk between loading screens.

Also playing with mods is always better than vanilla. Even if it's just something simple like nude hacks, let alone making your opponents glow in the dark in a FPS.

I've not encountered a single game on PS5 with loading screens long enough to warrant the time to misc. By the time you've opened a thread the game would be loaded and ready to play

If OP can wait a few months, the mid-ranged RX 7000 AMD GPUs should be out. PS5/XSX are built off of RDNA2. The RX 7600 - 7800 XT range is based off the newer RDNA 3 which allegedly gives 50% more performance per watt, while also having a new 5nm processor in it. They should be out around June, with the 7800 XT allegedly outperforming the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080. The 7800 XT is likely to be $700ish, therefore I wager the 7600 should be $400-500. It'll still be as expensive as the consoles itself, but when they do come out the previous gen RX 6000 should go down in price, so too should the RTX 20/30 NVIDIA GPUs if they want to stay competitive against AMD.

Probably fair to say that around the time of this launch the "can I build a PC as good as a PS5 for the same price?" question will pop up and riddle YouTube into it.

Can't really compare the two platforms. PC has customization and freedom, but sometimes you run into a wall. Having so many options works against you this way. A dedicated device like a console is optimized for one task and you get software written specifically for a set of hardware specs. A lot of developers are putting PC development on the back burner as well, though Linux is surprisingly making advancements in the PC realm with Proton and Valve's involvement.

It's like a Roku vs a small form factor PC you built to access a streaming service on your TV.

PS5 and Series X do software tricks that you can't sometimes do on PC (some games you can but RARE), like checkered board 4k rendering, forced motion blur to reduce choppiness and other upscaling techniques.

all a console user wants to do is boot up and play games without tinkering with settings and the consoles do a pretty good job at that

so its hard to have a 1:1 comparison

LMAO at consolecels acting like you'd have to spend triple the money.

OP, for about $800-$1000 you can build a PC that's easily on the level, if not better, as a PS5.

If you did some used parts here and there, even less.

CPU:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091J3NYVF...ogi&th=1&psc=1

GPU:https://www.newegg.com/asrock-radeon...r20y_cmOlxWnDw

Memory: Any cheap ass 16GB kit

Same for the rest of the components.

I wouldn't say "better". Spiderman with FSR in 1080p looks worse.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZH0Ky44w0I

Runs about on par, and that's with a 5800x3D. Cheaping out on components would just cost you more in the long run, when they crap out and you got to replace them. So there's that to consider.

Umm any upscaling TO 1080p looks poor.

The CPU in the Xbox is more or less a downclocked 3700 and will be destroyed in Gaming by the $135 5600.
The GPU in the consoles is worse than the 6700xt by a notable margin.

The difficulty is figuring out what image settings are being used to optimize the performance settings. For the consoles someone did it for you. For PC you need to do it yourself.

Yeah and as video card prices drop you can keep your PC performance updated without spending much money.
