For a one off fee of $3000, would you have every forum opponent banned?

Another misc hypothetical.


I know how much people on forums and especially miscers, tend to be fragile little bitches who don't like posting anywhere unless everyone there already agrees with you.

But what if you could remove every person who disagrees with you on the forum permanently, they can never come back, and the only people who remained agree with you and you never have to encounter argument or information inconsistent with your positions?


Assume it's a one off fee of $3000. Pay that and every e-enemy is gone. Would you do it?

I used to be part of a trading forum that ran like that. You could pay to ban your op, pay to unban yourself, delete their post, sticky your thread, unsticky theirs, vandalize their sig or avatar, etc.

There was one dude who must have dropped $50k+ just screwing with people.

That FiresofHeaven forum is like that (Chicken Nugget Central). You can actually invest your real life money to get certain forum points, and they give you particular powers otherwise not available.


I rustled some dude there so badly (not intentionally, he's just an aspie who can't handle someone in his safe space) he paid his own money to cancel me from the forum for 24 hrs.

I never understood the whole ban culture thing that exists on forums, especially somewhere like the misc.

Firstly, we have complete agency in regards to how we use the misc, i.e. what threads we choose to read and what threads/posts we respond to. Nothing is forced on any us in any way. If someone's posts deeply offend you, simply ignore his ass, which brings me to my second point. For those miscers who are compulsive and just can't help themselves when it comes to reading and engaging with those they hate, there is the IGNORE function.

Also, I've noted that the most vehemently hated and despised miscers are often intelligent posters. No one has any major issue with any of the more idiotic posters, why? Because you can just write them off as a complete dumb ass.

I definitely notice and agree with this. Hated miscers are the most normal and intelligent ones. I'm definitely a hated miscer, and so is Wincel, but I honestly find Wincel to be one of the most intelligent and articulate posters here.


In my case, I'm not going to boast and claim superior intelligence, but I'm hated for no real reason other than I argue for positions contrary to right-wing extremism, like Biden's legitimate victory, vaccine effectiveness, natural origins of Covid etc.

personally i wouldn't have anyone banned unless they're posting child porn, or spamming or some chit, even if they have chit takes on things. The only exception is dusty, who i think should be banned for her own good (although she hasnt been around for a while so maybe shes finally left)

Nah. There are no 'opponents' here. Most people are just living their lives and just post here for fun. Some obviously have issues and gravitate to this place as an echo chamber to spew their anonymous vile. You just ignore these miserable folks. Misery loves company, so they all stew in their bitterness together. Small percentage, though. Wouldn't have them banned, of course not.
