Sadat went with the mainstream and consensus, the Arab world was in the minority versus the popular opinion which was pro-Israel or just "pre '67 borders" at the most extreme. The world's nations, then like now, support Israel because of a host of nefarious reasons. Just look at America and both republicans and democrats.

There's a decent book "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World ."

My takeaway is he wasn't so bad. The Mongols didn't really have a written history and the bad rep comes from people who wrote about him after they got their ass kicked.

I have not listened to Dan Carlin's famous "Wrath of the Khans" series yet if he debunked that book.
