Mike Pompeo visits Zelensky. Says arming Ukraine is least costly way to move forward

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pom...?intcmp=tw_fnc

Former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, voicing support for further U.S. funding arming the nation's military.

During his time in Ukraine, Pompeo spoke with a large swath of national leaders, including lawmakers, military representatives and more. His visit highlighted ongoing support for U.S. assistance to the county's fight to repel Russian invading forces.

"The least costly way to move forward is to provide the Ukrainians with what they need now, provide them with the tools and resources that they need today," Pompeo told Fox News.

He continued, "An extended conflict, a conflict that results in Vladimir Putin in control of Kiev or moving on to Europe will be far more costly than the American people, than providing them these weapons quickly, effectively training them and ending this."

The former CIA director said he did not expect the Russian invasion of Ukraine to end in outright victory for either side. Instead, he speculated, negotiations would bring it to a close.

"We know that conflicts like this almost always result, are resolved, through a negotiation, but it is seldom the case that one just completely overwhelms the other. This is likely to end that way too," Pompeo said.

He continued, "What we need to make sure for American interests is we need to make sure that this ends in a way that creates the permanency, so we don't find ourselves back in this place again."

The former secretary of state also emphasized the necessity of involving other nations in the ongoing support of Ukraine – most specifically in Europe.

"We should do two things. We should provide them the things that we can. And we should demand that other nations, not just Europe, but certainly Europe, step in and do their part as well. That's important.

"This needs to be not just an American support of Ukraine, but the world standing up to Vladimir Putin, who has so viciously attacked a sovereign nation," he concluded

He's right.

If we had listened to the non-interventionist, we would be sending aid and weapons to about 3-4 different european countries instead of just Ukraine.

Is the non-interventionist the one that egged Russia on to take Georgia and Crimea? Or the same one that installed a CIA/Mossad/5-eyes puppet into Ukrainian rule?

Fking lmao, your entire reading of history is mainstream revisionist history.

Forget Hitler, Trump is Satan in NYPat’s eyes. Literally nothing bad ever happened before Trump.

The 2016 establishment playbook actually ended up working in the end - Trump is now the original sin.

And you think a confrontation with several other European countries would somehow shorten the conflict? That Poland would just stand by and do nothing while Russia has troops on their border?

Explain your thinking.

That's what you see happening? Tom Clancy wannabe......

What did Trump advice? That maybe Germany and so many other European countries shouldn't be energy dependent on Russian gas.

That NATO countries should pay their share.

Otherwise what are you implying? That these countries are nothing but our helpless puppets?

You think that our involvement is prolonging the conflict

Pretend like we ignored Ukraine entirely. Russia captures and occupies Ukraine now.

You really think Poland and the other countries bordering Russian-occupied Ukraine are just going to sit there and do nothing?

Instead of having Russia vs Ukraine like we have now, it'll be Russia vs rest of Europe.

Now which conflict would be easier to end?

First off, what makes you think they would be able to steamroll throughout the entire country of Ukriane without our involvement?

And if that WERE true, than it shows how they truly are nothing but a puppet.

And this fantasy in your head of this turning into some kind of Command and Conquer, Red Alert, video game is pathetic.
