Anyone remember the game Doom on PC?

I used to play it 9th grade, and then log on to troll AIM chatrooms with my boys.

I just realized that game was hard as hell.

DOOM has been goated for decades. I don't play video games hardly ever anymore since they are microtransaction grindfest bullchit, but I recently played the latest Doom and it was still good.

Yes, Doom 1 and 2 are some of the best games ever made. At the time there was nothing else like them.

Quake 1 is up there as well.

I played these games endlessly as a kid.

Of course. Liked Doom but always liked Quake better.

Quake 2 online with a 56k modem was the one of the GOAT's. Having to account for that massive lag took a special kind of skill.

Used to play Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nuke 'em, can't remember if Doom or Duke Nuke 'em came right after Wolfenstein but played them on a friend's PC. I know they were all similar but the poverty polygon graphics in Castle Wolfenstein made me puke in my friend's front yard. The next morning it was gone, think their dog ate it up.

I remember going to a mini LAN party with my Dad's friends son who was in college. He was an uber nerd for the time so knew how to set stuff up like that before most people. We would play networked multiplayer doom and I would destroy them. I had to be like 10 at the time. I won in a kinda ****ty way though I would be a camper lol. They got pissed.

Super cool to have that memory as basically no one was playing any games networked. I dont even think the internet was widespread by that point.

Whne i got internet I played zombie infection mod on cs source all day. Was thrilling. 60 players. One gets infected after a minute. Sometimes I hid in the tube with the machine gun and 60 zombies tried pushing each other into

me.
