Should i take a vacation to the US & what would be actually worth it to see?

I dont want to be shot though. Knowing im the only one without a gun is anxiety fuel.
Route 66 would be sikk to drive thru with a bike. Stop by gas stations & motels smashing hookers. I have a dl for a light motorcycle (125cm), not sure how it works out there if i could drive a 1 liter harley or nah but im willing to risk it & act dumb tourist when caught

too late to go now , i last went in 2018....which was the 7th time and the likely the last ......maybe take my kid to see the Grand Canyon one day but only if the country stops being
such a fckn dumpster fire....i used to love going there

Only getting shot if you visit a liberal cesspool like Chicago or NYC or some other large city where they slap criminals on the wrist for shooting tourists. But yeah visit Arizona. See the petrified forest, painted desert, and meteor crater, then spend a couple days at the Grand Canyon. Stay in Sedona or Flagstaff and you will be relatively close to all these places.

I've been all over the US and there isn't much to do.

You aren't going to be driving on a highway with anything exciting happening and there aren't going to be hookers at some diner or truckstop that you will actually see.

There might be some gay dudes though!

If you want to see a city, New York is the best city in the country. If you want to see nature something like the Rocky Mountains is pretty but once you have see it, it's kind of over.

I would rather go to the German Alps than to the US Rockies.

Everything in the US is kind of cheap. For instance, in the Vale CO area, there's a "German Village" but it's buildings with plastic fronts made to look like German buildings.

New York is just about the most real place you can get.

I live in Philadelphia and the tourist area is a couple of streets and the rest is broken down cityscape.

When I went I to the USA I went to Utah, Idaho, Montana. See stuff like Yellowstones, Arches national park, Moab desert. The nature stuff was pretty fun. When I went do Vegas at the end I did get robbed by black people.

Never driven route 66. Watched a special on it the other week though and it looked fun. Most places in the US are safe but as some note big cities run by blue politicians have higher crime and murder rates. Route 66 starts in Chicago and ends in LA, two of the cities with high crime levels.

The US Park system in the Colorado, Arizona, Utah and Nevada are literally some of the most amazing areas on the planet....

I just got back from Sedona Arizona and there are places that are so stunning that its hard to put them into words.

..and I've travelled the world with my job and few things can compare.


Do not waste your time on places like LA, San Fran or NY....They do not live up to any of the hype.

Rt 66 is forgotten run down towns.

If you want to see America do I-95. Start in NYC, Philly, DC, Raleigh, Savanah, Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami. Its only like 20 hours total driving so you can see a lot in a week. Only 3-4 hours between major cities.

All connected by cheap rail or bus in addition to pretty cheap flights.

I'm from the US and lived in the Rocky Mountains for a few years and don't understand why people go to these places. Outside of my window in Denver, I had a great view of the Rockies.

But, once you go there there's virtually nothing to do. You are just looking at stuff.

Look, there's a mountain, but if you travel to the mountain there's nothing much to see or do. The same thing goes for the desert.

I was going to drive from Denver to Vegas for fun, then I looked at google maps and saw the terrain and said, no. I'm not driving through a wasteland.

New York and cities like it have endless activities that are going to be memorable. Looking at a mountain is something you could do for minutes and it's over. Going to the top of Pike's Peak is an odd experience but that lasts a couple of hours and you are lightheaded and looking at the sky.

If you are spending thouands flying, getting your money's worth is important.

I do it once or twice a year.

Honestly you could skip all of the US and just drive around the Florida beach towns and have an awesome time. Even the small towns like Daytona and Panama City are better than almost anywhere else in the country.

True The 95 makes alot of sense i just feel like 66 has monumental value. But its too good in comparison, need to save it for some other trip

From UK living in US - the US has nothing. It's only been around a couple hundred years - there's infinitely more history and interesting things to see in Europe. Like someone else said - if you're going here and love nature etc go to montana or some other desolated State, go see Yellowstone national park. Washington DC or NYC is cool for museums and cultural flavor. Niagra Falls if you go to NY (crossover to Canadian side it's better). Else - Florida at least the weather and pretty beaches (and women) are something you can't get in the UK. California wouldn't be bad either - wine tours, San Diego Zoo, Redwood state park etc

Visit the national parks in the western part of the US. Specifically, Rocky Mountain NP, Yellowstone, Glacier, Olympic, Zion, Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton. Spending time in all of those in one trip would take a lot of time, so perhaps select one area and visit the parks there. For example, choose California and visit Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite. Or choose the northern US Rockies and visit Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier.

The cities in the US are overrated - dirty and full of homeless and criminals. But some are better than others. I like Miami, and DC has interesting historical sites.
