Does a natty really even need to do squats?

I remember a time and maybe still that way where squats were all the rage. i now see tons of people crowding the squat rack at the gym cheering each other on

but is it really that big a deal for a natty that works out 3x/week to not squat? if you do something like leg press/leg extensions and some form of exercise using legs like jogging or basketball...does it really matter?

take a 165-180lb natty that isn't overly fat for example...is the upper body ever really going to get that much out of proportion with the legs no matter how much they work out?

The leg press is great, but it doesn't work your ass holes.

There are several squat variations that can build great quads and glutes. Add in leg press and leg ext and a natty is well covered.

Squats however are definitely a big part of the iron culture and learning to squat azz to grazz is important and fun in the long game.

How are squats better than leg press tho? They work the same muscle group.

Anyone saying that you have to do any specific exercise is a moron.
All that came from the toxic powerlifting beo science culture. Squat, dead, bench bro! Following the arbitrary rules of some federation! That is how you Get big bro

so somebody doing lighter weight squats vs leg press/extensions...would it really matter which they do?

leg press/extensions seems more like an exercise that can easily be incorporated into a work out routine into the 40s 50s 60s and beyond with far less risk

End of the day, the best exercise is the one you want to do. As awesome as squats are, every lift is replaceable.

Honestly I've concluded doing heavy squats is useless to a degree.

I used to be one of those squat guys too but it just isn't worth it, especially injury potential.

Doing heavy DB deep lunge walk IMO is superior for building upper thigh and butt.

Lower quads aren't too hard to hit.

TBH Big Three are kind of overrated IMO.

I still do lots of bodyweight squats and squat-like exercises, but squatting near max or 55-70% as a regular thing to me seems like asking for trouble.

I'm a pretty well muscled guy and I don't really have trouble keeping it on without having to do Big 3, my muscles still get more than enough work.

There are lots of other ways to challenge your body other than just lifting heavier weights.
