Mexican or Italian Cuisine? You can only choose one and give up the other forever

Toughest question I've ever been asked. Both are the pinnacle of the food world.

I'd like to give Italian the overall edge but would choose Mexican just because it's more protein focused.

Discuss.

Native Arizonan and I can't really stand mexican food so I'll go with Italian between the two.

Italian, even though I'm not a huge fan of it. I hate Mexican food.

Italian

I mean seafood wise it crushes it everything from fresh seafood risottos and pastas to whole grilled branzino etc..

Mexico gets a nod for ceviche (but Italians have crudo so whatever)

Meat wise I might give the Mexicans a nod especially for infierno grill setups and of course carnitas etc..

But Italians still have fantastic porchetta roasts and standard grill steaks etc.. and best olive oil and pickled condiments / bread and dips

But just comparing the amount of pastas and risottos and pizzas and cured meats and breads and cheeses… Mexico just gets buried eventually, no amount of moles and tamales can fix it

Agreed with overall stance that Italian food is more sophisticated and multi-dimensional.

Realistically, it's the most alpha cuisine there is but Mexicans got that meat mogg.

This, I imagine a lot of people are just going to imagine the Olive Garden menu and pick Mexican, but authentic Italian food is a top 3 GOAT in the world.

Mexican is still great too though and is also up there in top cuisines.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

is this a joke?

you can keep your refried beans and all meat that is seasoned the same way and tastes the same no matter what part of the cow, pig or chicken it comes from.

and your tortillas

Come on bro.

Don't act like this isn't the hardest question we've all been faced with in a while.

You ever had authentic al pastor? It's life changing.

this is the easiest question honestly, but i've never really given too many fulks about mexican food and yes, i've had authentic from restaurants there and from street vendors. i like it, it's fine, it's decent....

but it's peasant food. italian food is better and more versatile. you know this.

It’s not that difficult to me and although I enjoy Mexican food and I’m biased because I’m Italian, I would choose Italian cuisine every day of the week. I get tired of Mexican food. Other countries have better Hispanic cuisine IMO like Puerto Rican food mogs hard.

If you want a really unpopular opinion I’ll give you mine: Tex Mex >>> Authentic Mexican food

Mexican is just the same variations of wrapping, meats and cheese. Italian food has so many options.

I'd give up Mexican, honestly burritos and tacos are the second 1rd best dishes if it wasn't for Pizza or panzerottis.

Peasant food slaps tho. American BBQ is pretty much peasant food and it's GOAT too.

Italian is #1 for me too but the protons for Mex are too epic.

Yeah, I'd argue there's a lot of variety in both.

I think the overall range of flavors in Italian is way bigger though.

What's the standard Italian breakfast? Is it anything unique? It's here where Mexican food could gain some points maybe?
