My Gaming Era has come to an END
It is official, as of today (4.15.2023) my gaming era has officially come to an end & I no longer find joy or desire to game.
My first game was Blue Version back when I was 7 - it was the first Christmas in the new house and I was beyond excited starting the game up.
I am now 32 and I end my gaming journey with Ori and the Blind Forest.
After playing that game (took me a month to finish as I had little desire to play most days), I found no joy in beating it & no joy in the next game to play.
What a wonderful time it has been however, all things must come to an end.

Well, currently working on certifications for work that will allow me to move up in terms of pay - might as well knock those out quicker now that the gaming distraction is gone.

Play some joocy triple A titles instead of some cucky indy sht and you may change your mind. Gaming definitely has gone to sht to some extent but hasn't been ruined completely yet. This year actually has some solid sht coming out. If for nothing else the rule 34 pr0n is amazing.

You'll gravitate back to it some day, OP. I've always enjoyed games but there was a period for many years where I didn't play very much. I might pop in Donkey Kong Country or another familiar game I'd played literally hundreds of times for 15 minutes just to wind down when things were heavy. Things took a turn when I received a Nintendo Switch as a gift - a console I would have never bought myself, with the new Zelda game. I think I had been avoiding it, both due to financial reasons but also not wanting to be disappointed since Ocarina of Time is one of my all-time favorites, but it exceeded my expectations. That led to me exploring other games in the Switch library which were also fantastic. I'm now playing video games again about an hour in the evening to wind down in the middle of doing other stuff. I have a nice little relaxation routine going after 7pm. I look forward to it every day and plan on getting the new Zelda game next month.
Don't give up, OP. Something will come around to excite you again

Feel like I go through that once a year. Then 3-4 months later I pick up some game and I'm back into the hobby.

Wife is doing her thing, kid is asleep. It's too dark outside to bike. You've already worked out. There's a book, a movie, and a video game in front of you. You realize your simplistic analysis can then be applied to either of these, yeah? In a movie, someone goes here, does this, gets this, finds themselves in this sticky situation, finds a way to resolve it, ending. Same with a book. Same with a game. This idea that games are all about running around killing everything is the kind of nonsense you'd hear back in the early 90s. Educate yourself, boyo.
I'm not a massive gamer, just calling out bullschit when I smell it. Or, in this case, see it since I can't smell through my screen cuz I'm not caninemaxxed because if I were, all I'd be doing is sniffing the ever lovingfukout of fat female turd cutters on every corner of these here internetz.

I find these days I just enjoy mostly single player, somewhat linear games with a good story or a good progression system.
Most open world and multiplayer games these days are just a chore to play and not fun imo.

It's funny how joyless gaming becomes for people who have no real interests to pursue with video games.
Like gamers are literally just into video games as their hobby, they don't have any other hobbies or interests that tie into gaming. For example, I am into cars and motorcycles so I am into racing games with cars and bikes. It's like no matter what, I just enjoy a good driving game.
With a lot of gamers, it's like they gotta just be pursuing the critically acclaimed bullchit or they're lost.

Nothing wrong with casual gaming. I'll pick up the controller, play one mission or for about 20 minutes as a brain break. Never understood how people play for hours and hours.
Just reloaded GTA5 and I'm enjoying it again even though I know all the missions.
