Shelters are required to inform parents of a youth's location with 72 hours unless there is a compelling reason not to do so.

Shelters do not hide, keep, or adopt youth. It's reported, but when compelling reasons are present parents are not given the location, for obvious reasons.

Let me say again, to be clear: There is no compelling reason to not tell parents where their kid is.

My position is that a shelter is better than the street.
