If you aren't familiar, the idea is we are used to seeing ourselves in the mirror every day which is the opposite of how the rest of the world see's us. So when we see a picture or ourself or some other flipped version, it messes with our mind and we find ourselves more unattractive.

I decided to put this theory to the test. If this is true then I should also think people who I consider attractive the way we all see them will be uglier if I flip their photo around to see the mirror version that they see. I tried this with Brad Pitt, grabbed a photo of his off the internet, flipped it...... and he still looked incredibly (no homo).

Basically this theory is cope and I am in fact just ugly as f*ck. So depressed right now

Ok I just tried it with a couple normal girls I think are cute and it did make them look a bit weird. Still attractive but not as much.

Now I don't know what to think....

Cheat Code? EZ...be perfectly symmetrical. Most celebs have that going for them.

It's about 50/50 for me. Sometimes I don't like the way I look, other times I think I look almost the same.

For me I think it has to do with the angle, facial expression, lighting etc. In a mirror you can control those things, but in a photo it's harder to do that, especially if someone else is taking it.

Mirrors can be a more accurate way of seeing how you look to others than photos.

When looking in the mirror, you are looking with eyes at the same distance as other people.

A camera, especially phone cameras, have a lens flare and are from a single point. That plus the light balance, can make people look completely different.

I've seen girls that can have a picture taken of them, no filters or Myspace signals, that look a hundred times better than they do in real life. But I've also seen the opposite.

So trust the mirror.

I think it depends on how off kilter your face is. People like Brad Pitt are very symmetrical where the right and left sides are mirror images. Ugly people tend to have a droopy side and the droopier it gets the uglier you look, so you flip it and all of a sudden the left side is lower than the right or vise versa

This, I have a really asymmetrical face unfortunately. Also, the negative differences are all contained to one side of my face, my right side. My hairline, the bags under my eyes, my skin, my jawline, my facial hair density/pattern is all slightly worse on my right side than my left.

Its called the true mirror effect. Even cameras don't do justice to the real you since you're just seeing a reversed image or video of yourself on a flat display.

Once you see yourself in a true mirror, you'll never be the same srs.
