Sorry you got butthurt over my post, wasn't my intention. And I'm not "above" JRPGs, I'm regularly drooling over Persona 4 and 5. Maybe you missed my post wanting to play Persona 6 already. I merely called out FF16 and the - at least for me - completely unwarranted hype around it.

Not sure if srs about SE and good games though. You mean the studio that had to sell off studios and IPs, just had a 200 mil bust with Flopspoken and has announced launching blockchain games?

Sure, FF7R will keep printing money for them, but FF seems to be on its last legs.

Mario x rabbids is an overlooked series

Great games it’s like a turn based rpg minus the lengthy cutscenes /or deep story

Square Enix fans are not really devoutly loyal. Not many people really cared about them between 2010 and 2017. They have repaired their reputation a lot recently with games like Nier Automata, Dragon Quest 11, Octopath games, and Final Fantasy 14 (since the initial release). FF7 Remake was also well received although I wasn't a big fan.

You're missing out the goated #3 game on the previous generation.
I value your opinion more than anyone here. You're saying I should start P5 Royal after Burning Shores?

Fuk, lol based on you and Muzzlr, P5R is my next game after Burning Shores.

Jk

I’m not the jealous possessive type and any woman who says otherwise is just pissy and butthurt toward The Death stroke.

I value E-Go, mgftp, and SDSammy’s opinions here the most
I think so anyway Srs

I have some hope mainly because the combat director worked on DMC5 and Dragon's Dogma, and the combat in both of those games was excellent.

Definitely dude. It's an amazing game, one of the best ever made.... I didn't think I'd like it, but I was hooked on it and it left me with an empty hole after I finished it. 120 hours of pure bliss

Games of the generation ps4:

God of War
Witcher 3
Persona 5

Although I will warn you that it is kinda weeby and has the typical anime tropes, so your mileage may vary.

- The game start's out rather slow and there's gonna be a lot of cutscenes / exposition and grating characters initially for you to get through
- The game legit takes about 6-10 hours to get into the groove

But if you can just hang on and get through the initial hours, it's an absolute masterpiece and as more mechanics are introduced and the game starts opening up, the magic begins and you're gonna be legit addicted to it.

Took me a while to convince my buddy to get it and he usually doesn't like anime/weeby stuff, but this fulla platinumed the game and was on my ass for not finishing up P5 Royal edition (I already finished P5 OG, so going through the royal remake was a bit hard for me because that first experience was so damn goated and you already know me and how I rarely replay games, let alone finish most of them lool) - But P5 Royal is an amazing experience, I have about 60 hours into it and it's so much better than OG P5, with some well needed QOL improvements.

Just go into with an open mind and at least finish the first dungeon, that will at least give you a rough idea of what the game is about .... New mechanics are introduced as you play more, so the game is constantly giving you new things and curveballs as you progress.

Say less. I love slow burns that can open up into something amazing. P5 Royal remaster after Burning Shores then.

You absolutely have to play it.

As Choco Gandalf and bongo said it takes time to open up, but then you get the first awakenings and by the time you hit the first boss and the music at 1:10 starts blasting - and characters keep screaming Personaa - you're hooked for life. Honestly, the art style, design and music alone would carry the game, but then again the writing and the characters are pretty amazing as well.

I dare say it's up there with TW3.

Oh yeah, the music, the art, the entire vibe and style of the game .....cottdamn.

One of the best memories I still have of the game is playing it during my vacation days ... Woke at up at like 5 am, and it's still raining outside irl. Go make myself a cup of coffee ...Sit down, load up the game. It's monsoon season in-game, the music is playing o lawd .... Start planning out my day in game and doing what I needed to do ..... hnnnnnnggggh felt cozy as fuk. Was legit putting in 8-14 hours of playtime each day of vacation ... Only times I stopped was just to go eat or go to the gym lol.

Same, was running around in the city on a rainy day doing Mementos and whatever while it was also raining outside. Was pretty nice tbh.

Dang, started rewatching some vids on YT and reminiscing about the game, might actually pull the trigger on Royale since I've never played it after finishing the original release.
