Switch has long been the home of JRPG's. They got the most classics by now, and lots of stuff you can't find elsewhere.

Not my style of gaming, but I still think some of the essential classics are nice to have.

Yeah I've heard about Persona for years, but I can't get into the modern setting.

I'm seriously baffled that people can get excited for "generic fantasy man with a dog facerolling through AI generated medieval Europe" aka FF16.

What do you mean my modern setting? I know it's an anime story turn based RPG. That's literally all I know tho.

The setting is modern day Japan. In Persona 5 anyway. I just can't get into that. I prefer fantasy.

It’s why despite my love of turn based RPGs I just can’t force myself to Like persona. I’m very particular and I never could get into anything anime.

Not unless you would call Spiderman fantasy. I guess it could fit some technical definition, but it's not generally considered to be.

I had the same reservations before trying Persona and I don't even like JRPGs in general.

Wait, you really not excited for FF16? I don't know much about it, haven't seen a single trailer but from everything I've read, this will be their return to form.

No and I am genuinely surprised that anyone is excited for whatever that will be. I'm also convinced that nobody would give a schit if it didn't have "Final Fantasy" attached to it.

Now take a look at these two trailers. I'm positive that you could easily convince some unaware people that they are from the same game.







Hell, FF16's trailer even does the "here's a glimpse from each new zone" MMO expansion announcement thing. Incoherent out of context bits of dialogue about nothing, something something revenge, darkness and whatnot, characters and monsters screaming and ooooh aaah choir music blasting all over it, occasionally sprinkled with something that I believe counts as gameplay where either your character or the enemy is floating in the air for a minute at a time while numbers keep popping up.

And I still don't have a clue what the fuk is going on and who's who. Although that seems to be a recurring trope of FF.

Now compare it to this.



Clear, concise, cool. As Michael Sheen tells you, you will be playing captain Kirk with a buzz cut who will have to organize a team of aliens, hot chicks, possibly alien hot chicks and save the galaxy aboard your very own space ship. Instead of I don't know, the turian councilor telling us that they've dismissed the Reaper claims, Legion looking at the camera with the N7 badge, characters screaming, while Mordin is singing in the background.

Since my work on TLOU2 is done, this is the next game I'll be bugging you to play.

The only reason I'm excited for FF16 is because Square Enix has been making good games again lately. Couldn't care less about a trailer as I've never learned much from one.
