In short: you see 'positive' and only translate that in your head and here as 'negative', as if by necessity, which is an incredibly illogical shortcoming. Surely your therapist has mentioned this aspect of your mental health (the negative world view) to you in your sessions?

Isn't it nice how society continues to function normally in the red states. Its almost as if enforcing rule of law is what keeps criminals in check and cities clean.
Also Chicken tender sub ftw $9 and stacked.

When they're down here, they still do the "man NY is so dope, this place sucks" and of course you reply with "why you here then." Crickets.
The joke in Florida is "how do you know a guy is from Brooklyn"

At the wedding are a few former New Yorkers, who love it heh. Some have been here for 15+ years. I do enjoy NYC but there's no need to chit on other places to make it seem good, and the feel here in Florida is just so nice. The simple fact that people make eye contact and say hello is huge to folks like me, anyway.
Sometimes I wish more Americans could see that the fact there is so much to see and do in this country is part of what makes it such a special place to be.

Been mirin' FL a lot lately.
But I have family down there and the heat (humidity) is beyond livable for half the year.
Plus, prices are through the roof lately. I guess it's the case in a lot of desirable areas now, it's hard to justify buying a $750k ranch with no basement in FL, knowing that it cost $300k just 5 years ago.
My biggest concern with FL is once DeSantis runs for POTUS (whether now or later) all the new in-flights to FL will usher in a Dem (probably black or Latin female) governor that will ruin the state.
On the upside for homeowners though, if history I'd any indication that will mean an even further influx of degen dems and drive property prices even higher, a la Austin, Seattle, Portland, Asheville, etc....

I watched the entire argument by Peter.
Core point:
It isn't simply being a billionaire that is evil, but how they live.
I would ask you the following questions:
1) What is money?
2) Is the concentration of power a good or bad idea?
3) Is greed fundamentally a virtue?
4) If you're a deontologist, can everyone live like an American? If you're a consequentialist, what outcomes for the world would you deem "good"?
5) Do you believe every country can become a democracy?
6) Do you believe those in power have an obligation to wield that power responsibly?
7) Do you agree the Earth's resources are finite and that their distribution and use ought to maximize some notion of the outcomes you deemed "good"?
8) Is a bad government better than no government?
I have my own answers to these questions, but I'd like to hear your POV on them.

Your girls also correct on sports. Tampa bro here, and at lightning games, the other team is always well represented. I always say 'no ones really born here everyones a transplant.' Obv there are local florida bros born and raised, but unless you're out fishing or at the sandbar, you're more likely to run into a north eastern transplant.
EDIT: Our politics used to sway blue to red (and back) every other election, but with the crazies now running the blue states, it feels like we're turning far more red. See Miami this last mid term. It hasn't been red in like 4 decades, until now. So I'd say it never really was politics driving the the population influx, but I would wager after covid, its certainly is a large part of it. Also on spread or I'd hit you with measles for recognizing freedom land for what it is.

lol @ how gullible you are
you've never worked at publix have you? Of course not
I have, that place is horrible to it's employees. I spent an entire year at publix doing nothing but fraud at the end of my shift, by orders from management. Since we weren't getting the numbers that the manager wanted, we started cheating. He had us scan EVERYTHING as donations with our scan guns, we'd scan and then toss it in the garbage.
They do this type of sh*t all the time, that company is evil and I don't miss one second of it. They asked me if I wanted to enter management and I didn't even let him finish the sentence, "NOPE"

Trump is threatened by DeSantis and should be. DeSantis is the future, Trump needs to stfu and go back the NYC where he belongs.

Another funny thing about areas with Publix is the ratio of churches vs full contact strip clubs within that 3 mile radius. Gotta love Florida lol.

IMHO: silo system thought as in "let's win X State and leave Y to the dogs" weakens the entire system. I know that "federalist" conservatives aren't popular today, but I believe that we are the richest and most powerful country on this planet. And that we should continue to be this powerful, while empowering our systems through said value system.
As naive a take as this might seem, and to address Wincel by proxy: why should the USA spend all it does abroad, e.g., in South Sudan, when China swoops in with a 1.5 billion road infrastructure plan to capitalize its relationship with the power of the day, and continue to facilitate arms flows too?
Why should some parts of the USA be left to die, while foreign spending is much higher than most understand, and I can only dream of what that money could do locally. "Partners" of the USA need to step up, and I am looking at Germany and Japan here in particular.
And why am I stating this? Because I can easily discuss these sorts of things in a civil and logical manner with conservatives, and yet "democrats" start screeching about the US' "responsibility" internationally, and forget that some US individuals have done more for global development than entire nations in the G20.
