I've been planning on getting my 2 brothers and dad a set of watches for christmas. I'm looking for something worth passing on, quality, and not insanely overpriced. Definitely cant afford 15,000 dollar watches and I dont trust ebay. To give an idea of budget, I'm making low 6 figures, no debt besides my mortgages. Thoughts?

Thats actually where I was leaning. also thought of Omega. follow up question, how about for my dad's retirement gift? will probably split the cost of that one with my older brother.

Omega AquaTerra is a great and versatile watch if you can justify around $5k per person.

If you want to spend less, the Longines Hydroconquest is probably the best value right now.

Used to be a watchcel. sold em all. only people who care are dorks & old men. But if thats your target market I would suggest getting maybe a Tudor, good Seiko, Baume & Mercier, etc. that price tier ....not sure but all decent for less than 3k.

most of the lesser watches (non rolexes patek ap) are made with the same movement (think like the engine of a car)....similar to how toyotas and lexus' share engine parts....but lexus costs more largely for appearance.

also the prices are dropping so buy used. I bet you can find a lot of nice watches for round 1500.

Omega Seamaster is cool as hell cuz James Bond wears it

99% of the time I wear a G shock or Seiko. Seiko diver is the standard daily wear watch, even for dudes with 6-7 figures worth of watches.

Alternatively Orient diver. Made in the same factory as Seiko, pretty sure same company owns both

Rolex day-date or datejust are the only options. Otherwise don't wear a watch at all

Quality Post here - Tudor makes great watches, Hublot, Baume & Mercier....all make good watches for the prince range you are looking for.

From my own personal taste - I think Tag USED to make some really nice watches, but over the last 5 years or so they just don't feel right, I don't keep up with "watch news" but I have a Tag Hearer Carrera from about 7 years ago that I love, great watch, great movement, good looks, but anything made recently is not feeling the same to me - could be totally in my head.

I also got my Brietling watch about 1.5 years go, it's my favorite watch now - I got the Breitling Premier, check those out, they are beautiful and you can dress them up & dress them down more casual depending on the occasion, and they have a lot of great leather / alligator bands few a few hundred $$ each that you can swap in & out.

Personally, I know Omegas are popular with Redditors, dorks, and low T betas, but I've never liked them, their movements and quality is good, but I've never liked the look, and I've never known someone in real life who wasn't a massive dork who wears an Omega, the dorks and betas of the world love them, so now they are ruined for me.....luckily I never really liked them to begin with.

Whatever the low T / beta males on reddit say, do the opposite.

Can't buy much of anything with real quality for under 5 grand. Rolex Datejust, Submariner, Oyster Perpetual... basically bottom of the barrel in terms of fancy watches and most are around 10k. Anything else probably wont appreciate in value. Kind of like mass produced lab grown diamonds... you can get a one carat lab grown diamond now for half of what a blood diamond costs, but the mass produced ones are not going to be worth chit in a few years. It's like buying a trailer home versus a real house. Same with watches... buying a "cheap" 5k dollar watch for your pops and bro just to flex is totally dumb with your income. Save up and buy them something that will actually be a keepsake and appreciate over time. Get your finances up then buy them something classy later when you can afford to do so.

GS is worth looking into, their dials are insane. A lot of options, but you might be punching a bit above that 15k limit for 3.
