Appalled by how overweight everyone is
I'm 230 lbs, 6 feet tall, and 35% bodyfat, I haven't done any lifting in over a year and look pretty bad, and I get told that I'm "not fat".
When I go to the grocery store more than half the people I see are more overweight than me, this including youth.
What is the world coming to?

Agreed. I was recently 6'3'' 265, which is the largest I've been in about 10 years. I went on Ozempic because I want to cut to about 215-220 by end of Summer. When I was telling people I'm starting the medicine, at least 4-5 people told me "you don't need it, that's ridiculous".
In reality my belly looks like **** and carrying the extra weight around was making me more tired. Not a good place to be at all.

And I remember it was fairly popular to eat at Buffets all the time and eat until I was literally in pain.Food is just crazy now
Its got so many chemicals and oils and sugars you can overeat and not even realize it
You can add like 3-500 cals to a meal just with sauces these days, and its not even gonna make you more full.

As great as the 1990s were for quality of life, it was a terrible time to develop life habits. I still struggle with food to this day as a stress reliever. Considering that most Milennials also came of age in the 1990s, it's not surprising that people turn to food now as well.

Everyone here is raised in a coddling environment... Oh you want more cake? then have more if it makes you feel better! Also we will drive 200 meters to get some ice cream if you still want more!
our portion sizes are absolutely mind-boggling compared to europe. Going to Italy was pretty eye-opening on how chitty things are over here in the USA. We are a legit chithole.

It's not just the portions. There's plenty of fast food places in Europe but I've never met a single person in my entire life that eats fast food daily. Many ingredients fast food joints in the US use are illegal in Europe as well. I'm sure they're illegal for a reason.

I was up to 255 lbs for awhile, not sure what my bodyfat percentage was though, was working for 6 months which helped me lose almost 30 lbs.
My doctor recommended that I go down to about 170 lbs, which is a reasonable bodyweight for someone 6 feet tall who doesn't lift, even in my prime when I lifted 3 days a week I looked my best at 176 lbs (for arm wrestling).
Seen a friend recently who I hadn't seen in over 15 years, he's overweight but not as much as me, when I told him I was way too fat and needed to lose a lot of weight he was shocked and said "you're not fat", and commented on how I used to be too skinny when we used to hang out, which happened to be in my prime at around 176 lbs, I swear people just troll me when they tell me I used to be so skinny and say I look better now.

We can't even use mass transit because of all the crackheads.... Think about how insane that is. There are so many crackheads here, that using trains is kind of impossible. Like wtf....
You'd have to line up, and march 10% of our population into the ocean in order to START the change... and then you'd STILL have a lot of work to do.
A lot of our problem is big pharma here, and the level of control they have on their addicts. But then again, it's a cultural acceptance of just eating, using drugs, and being an ******* all day long that got us here. There isn't just ONE problem.

We have every imaginable problem at every turn.
homeless, drug addiction, horrible drivers, crime, rage, and a general lack of ability to make good choices among ourselves.

There are multiple causes, but beyond the "calories in, calories out" mantra I'd attribute a lot to widespread depression, on top of chemicals fuking up people's hormones. Most people know about plastics messing up people's endocrine systems, especially men since they mimic estrogen in the body, which can affect the ability to stay thin, but now it's being shown that the same kind of disruptions are happening from PFAS ("forever chemicals") that are in most water in especially the western world. I'd bet the depression factor has Americans drinking more alcohol than they have in a century, and of course a huge amount of people just eat what the majority of the grocery stores provide - hyper processed foods. A multitude of prescription drugs fuk up peoples' metabolisms as well.
The part that has always puzzled me is obese kids and young adults. You get to 40 or 50, I get it. You probably have a couple of kids occupying most of your free time every day, you probably get crappier sleep than childless people, so it's easy to turn to conveniences. But if you're a teenager to early 20s, there's little excuse. Except....kids and other young people are more isolated and depressed than probably ever, not in spite of social media, but because of it. Young adults shouldn't give a fuk about politics. Very few ever did until smart phones came around. So many more of them are in the midst of middle age type of stress with politics being thrust at them, unnecessarily.
I write this not as excuses for people, but across the entire population these are factors that accumulate.
