Thoughts on RDR2?
Finally picked up this game for $20 after hearing so much good things about it over the years but.....
Jesus Christ this has to be one of the slowest pace and janky controls in an open world game ever.
BRB taking 3 seconds to loot
BRB glitchy pickup triggers
BRB forced to walk at slow ass pace to get to next objective
Graphics are also looking pretty soft with some very PS3-era textures. People have said that this is one of the best looking open world games? Wut. Maybe I'm just super spoiled by Horizon Forbidden West lol

I thought that it looked amazing but the "gameplay" was a fuking chore so I've shelved it after maybe 2 hours in. Granted I find the whole Western genre absolutely boring.
My very early breaking point was the lassoing tutorial or whatever where I had to chase down a guy, tie him up and bring him back to the sheriff. Nailed the dude, was walking on horseback when some rando civilian walked face first into the tied up dude's feet which somehow registered as me attacking the chick and people started chasing and shooting at me.
Having to spend 80% or so of my game time on riding a horse or a carriage from A to B while someone was talking about some irrelevant bullschit didn't help either. Seriously, you start the game and one of the very first options you get is to press a button so it's all cinematic and artsy fartsy and whatever while you're not playing the game.
And yeah, controls were janky af as well.

I think I put 15 hours into it then haven't touched it since. Everything about the game felt tedious. The only reason I stuck with it so long was I bought it digital at launch and was trying to get my money's worth lol.

i played in stretches. i cant remember what point i first put it down but i feel like i came back like a year later
i thought it was amazing when you finally get to the big town with the 1st character. that mission where you infiltrate a boat and play a poker game. if they let that area in the game go on longer it's up there with the best ever
but its super short then you're fukin running again.
it's still good though. i just thought being on the run got old

I really lost interest after you get to guarma or whatever. Aside from that I like just walking around exploring. I also liked hopping on a train, waiting until it gets in the tunnel, stopping it and robbing it.
Entire NYPD should go on strike. You'll see then how quickly the mayor changes his tone.

it's probably the most overrated game of last gen imo. the looting and animal skinning animations, horse riding, walking at snail's pace through camp, and clunky controls ruined the game for me. some pretentious morons might tell you it's because you have a short attention span but the fact of the matter is the game is unnecessarily slow.
arthur morgan is a great protagonist and is the only reason i finished the game. chapters 5 and 6 were fantastic but everything else was meh

I really enjoyed it, some of the sidemissions were good and there was a lot to do. I've since seen a lot of videos on the subtle touches (e.g. alternate way to kill the vampire) which goes to show how much thought went in to it.
It didn't feel like any game I had played before (the original aside) or since.

it's GOATed and an absolute pleb filter. Plebs and low-IQs complain about awkward controls when it's the exact same controls that came out in 2008 with GTAIV. Seriously. Same chit Rockstar has been using in every of their AAA games for 15+ years.

Played it on PS4 during the Covid bs, while sitting at home for 2 months rotmaxxing. Took awhile to reach the final credits, and loved most of it. Having said that, if I was to play it now, I'd probably put in 20 minutes and then put the game away forever. Having limited free time sucks ballzacs, and having too much time off gets boring as well.
