Tucker floats plan to host a republican primary debate/candidate forum

Lesser-known cable channels are itching to build a new brand around him. Industry experts think he could make a mint in podcasting.

But Tucker Carlson — who was fired by Fox News last week at the height of his popularity and influence in right-wing punditry — has aspirations of moving into a larger role that doesn’t limit him to a single medium, according to people familiar with his thinking. And he is willing to walk away from some of the millions that Fox is contractually obligated to pay him, if that would give him the flexibility to have a prominent voice in the 2024 election cycle.

Most ambitiously, Carlson wants to moderate his own GOP candidate forum, outside of the usual strictures of the Republican National Committee debate system. The idea, which he has discussed with Donald Trump, the front-runner for the party nomination, would test his vaunted sway over conservative politics. And it would take a jab at his former employer — Fox is hosting the first official primary debate, which Trump has threatened not to attend — if he can manage to make his grandest plan happen.

He is an intelligent, hard-working man, wealthy man who has the respect of people who completely disagree with him on many social and political issues, as well as those more in line with him ideologically. Cable ratings have been dying for a long time. CNN and MSNBC gets no viewers. Fox gets some, but that's dropped off since the firing. Old Boomers watch tv, most others have moved on to other platforms. if Tucker did a podcast he would swarf Fox and make more money.

The only thing I'll give tucker credit for is he has more freedom now that he got fired. He can go fly-fishing whenever he wants. If he's married, I predict a divorce in the next 3 years. I predict he's going to become depressed, start a podcast that fails, write a book while depressed and get divorced. During this time he will drink heavily and become better friends with B and C list conservatives. His podcast will deteriorate during this time and he jump to talk radio that lasts for 5 years and he fades away.

The guy doesn't have it in him to succeed in his own platform. He filled O'Reilly slot, used O'Reilly template and shot up. Before that he was b and c list where he belongs.

Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it.

This is how I know you never watched either show....two completely different shows. Also, Tucker was the number rated show with (D) & (I) voters in key demos.

yeah, I do agree that the ratings will come back, maybe not quite as high but close enough with more sponsors. If one is an 8PM Fox News viewer, where else you gonna go?? To the 12 other places calling you a racist and domestic terrorist??

Thank you for letting me trigger you to the point of reviewing 3 pages of my ridiculous post history. That’s very flattering with a side of creepiness. Yes I enjoy posting on this cess Pool of mentally retarded cultist trump supporters because it’s more efficient to trigger a large pool of them in one place where they congregate such as the R&P misc. This is just fun for me and as you pointed out I will venture out into other topics when the stupidity gets slow around here. I just lurk to past some free time I may have while cruising the net and reading the news. I love my life here in FL and enjoy many hobbies mostly during non work hours. I have been in FL all my life and the racist POS trump supporters around me do not bother me as I make fun of FL man all the time. Come back, was the wrong choice of words...what I meant was more along the lines of whoever replaces him still having that #1 time slot.

On Wednesday night, Fox’s fill-in show at 8, Fox News Tonight, delivered a total audience of 1.332 million viewers, which dropped Fox into second place behind MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, which took first place with 1.377 million viewers

That said, Fox News Tonight is still easily besting all rivals. Through Wednesday, it is averaging 1.9 million total viewers and 189,000 viewers in the demo, compared to MSNBC’s 1.45 million/169K and CNN’s 683K/155K in the 8 pm hour.
