Have a week vacation. Flying out tomorrow. Going to Zion national park, then Bryce Canyon. Not sure what I want to do after that tbh. Any brahs from around those parts or been there that have suggestions on other things I can visit the last 3 days or so? Was just going to wing it after Bryce Canyon and drive somewhere.

They were having late season snow in Park City. You might be able to get a ski day in.

I've never skied before haha. Originally I was planning to go to Telluride and ski but plans fell through so here I am.I keep joking that I'm going to end up turning mormon while I'm out there, never come back, and have multiple wives. We'll see what happens.Yea I looked at that too. A bit far of a drive but man Moab looks amazing. Strong possibility.Yea flying into Vegas. Landing in Vegas early around 8:30am so I planned on stopping in St. George for a while since I can't check in to my hotel until 3pm. Was even thinking of coming back after Bryce and exploring st. George after watching some videos. Any good hot springs I should check out? I keep seeing those mystic hot springs with the bathtubs in videos. Wasn't sure if it was worth the drive, but central Utah looks like a fricken different planet from what I can tell.

Really I wanted to do a hiking trip short notice here. However, all the mountains got so much snow this winter that it isn't even feasible this early in the hiking season to go and I didn't want to wait until mid/late summer for a vacation like this. I'm just up for exploring, hiking and clocking out of reality for a while to enjoy some peace and different scenery. An adventure.

You could consider Kanab - cool out of the world place too. Some hiking / canyons.

St George is beautiful. Lots of hikes close by. Snow canyon has good hikes and views. No springs really - there was this place by mesquite called little Jamaica but not as cool as in the pictures and think it is shut down.

It is sort of awkward time to do anything but hike - not hot enough to fully enjoy the lakes yet. But you could check out sand hollow which is a cool reservoir - might be kinda cold. Some sand dunes by sand hollow where you could rent an ATV and play around - lots if ATV exploring to do around sand hollow. (In fact, you should really consider this.)

Brian head is a great mountain option - close to Bryce. Most of the snow probably gone, but maybe not enough that the mountain would be open to mountain biking. Like I said, kind of awkward time of year.

What hikes you doing in Zion, btw?

EDIT: if you are up for the drive, Moab really is amazing too and a world class destination.

Thank you very much for the insight brah. srs. Might make a stop in Kanab. Will definitely be staying at least a night in st. George too. ATVing in sand hollow? I might just go do that too haha. Would be amazing to ATV in the Utah landscape.

Not sure what hikes I will do at Zion. Looks like The Narrows will be closed since it has been un-hikable since beginning of April. That blows. I was just going to tear through as much as I can based on YouTube videos and all trails. If angels landing isn't too crowded I'll do that as well.

Angels landing at zion requires a permit to hike on now, you need to enter a lottery online the day before. I'm not even sure if it's open yet.

Bryce canyon is too far from everything IMO. You should instead hit up arches & canyonlands & that horse state park. Moab is right there as well.

Bryce Canyon is close to Zion though haha. Moab is like a 6 hour drive. Then I'd have to drive about 8 hours back to Vegas. That might be too brutal of a drive for me. Didn't realize Moab was that awesome though since everyone talks about Zion/Bryce Canyon the most.

If you're gonna do zion then Bryce canyon then I'd also recommend heading down to page AZ and check out the antelope canyons. They're really famous and amazing if they're open.

If you're willing to drive you can do this loop:
Zion
Bryce canyon
Antelope Canyon page AZ
Then head east to Monument valley
Then head north to moab/arches NP/canyonlands

I did monument Valley to Bryce canyon back in 2020 and drove on hwy 95 and it was one of the most scenic drives I've ever done, and I live near california PCH hwy 1, have driven the road to hana in Maui, all of iceland, and recently put 1000km in the Italian dolomites. Hwy 95 was jawdroppingly beautiful.

Moab is good for outdoor recreation sports and the two national parks right by it but imo offers little else. If you don't want to drive that much then I'd do zion, Bryce canyon and antelope Canyon in page AZ Then back.

There's valley of fire state park which is only an hour away from Vegas and is like a mini Utah. Grand Canyon south rim is also an option that's popular if you've never been.

I have a few days of hiking to figure out what I want to do so I'll update this thread with my choices. Who knew Utah had so much beautiful landscape. Wish I had 2 weeks.

Yeah dude the best Zion hikes have lotteries. You need to look into that asap.

If you are ever close to Beaver, swing by the creamery for some hmnnng cheese curds, pick up an I Heart Beaver shirt and buy some Beaver water (supposedly best tasting water) with the slogan “Nothing Tastes Like a Beaver”

These are good suggestions. Could also stop in Kanab on your way back from Page - there is cool stuff to see there. Too bad it is just a little too early in the year to enjoy lake powell - probably one of the GOAT lakes.

Southern Utah is just nuts - so much to do.

Arches and canyon lands national parks are cool too. Moab Utah

Love Moab, I was there last spring with the family. Having said that, I tend to prefer focusing on an area and hitting everything rather than driving around and doing a little everywhere. In your position I would focus on the southwest corner of the state. If you do pass through Kanab, you could shoot your shot at getting a permit to hike into the Wave. I haven't done it, but my parents hit southern Utah a couple times every year and they have done it a couple times. They got permits via a lottery the day before at the Kanab BLM field office. I think now you can apply via the BLM mobile app. Tough to get but would be a really neat hike.

Red Reef Waterfall aka Red Reef Trailhead - (northern St George/Washington area) If you're seeking a hike that's effortless and leads to a fantastic swimming spot with red rocks to jump off, then this location is an excellent choice. I'm not sure how deep the water is right now, so be careful as it could be dangerous. The water might be too shallow to jump into, or it could be flowing rapidly and cause some serious trouble. Usually, we love to swim there by the end of March/April, but the winter in Utah has been a bit crazy, so who knows how it is now.

St. George Narrows - This place is conveniently located right in town and definitely worth a visit. You can park right next to numerous red rocks to hike up and enjoy a view of the city. It's a great spot to visit, especially during the early evening.

Excellent golfing at Sand Hollow.

If you ever come back to the Zion area at the right time of year hike the real "Narrows" in Zion from the top down, preferably with friends. It will be the longest day of your life and one of the most amazing. It was one of the most incredible experiences I have had, but I can also see how people die there if they get unlucky.

Finally, coming from Montana, I can confidently say that Utah does, in fact, have some of the most stunning women around (maybe more in the north, Salt Lake/Provo areas because St. George area has a ton of retirees). You'll find yourself constantly turning your head. And, I can attest to that, as I ended up marrying a local myself.

Go to MOAB and do some white water rafting if you’re into it. It’s a cool little town

I'm sure there's lots to do in The Taw.

If you get sick of the crowds, check out Escalante or Capital Reef. People overlook them and focus on Bryce, Zion and Moab.
