I’m talking about cars to show the hypocrisy when it comes to folks “caring” about deaths.

They want guns gone because they don’t like guns and don’t see any use for it in their life. Guns being gone won’t change anything about their life. (Won’t change homicide rates either)

However they are perfectly fine with driving a vehicle that kills 3x more than all guns combined. 30,000 lives killed by the very tool they use and they don’t even bat an eye because the car makes life convenient. They never call for car control and they would never give up their car to save a life.

Most car accidents happen via negligence. Stupid people doing stupid things. Whether it be speeding or reckless driving or not paying attention. So in other words a basic lack of caring for their fellow man.

Whilst I'm not advocating for gun confiscation at all, the comparison between guns and cars is a very redneck means of arguing against gun control.



Car accidents are accidents, for starters. An accident is something which happens without foresight and rarely preventable. Until there is investigation afterwards and the determining factors are identified, and the car design is improved upon as much as possible to make itlessdangerous, assuming it was a significant factor.

AR-15s are designed for combat, and they're designed to be massively effective killing machines. That's why mass shooters tend to choose them: You can get a lot of killing done very quickly. It was designed for killing. Not hunting, there are better weapons for hunting. It carries a lot of ammo, which is good for taking down a lot of targets.

I've never shot an assault rifle, but I've shot quite a few hunting rifles designed to take buffalo and crocodiles. Whilst the stopping power is immense, you know what the first thing I thought when handling it? No fcking way could I do a mass shooting with this thing.




And I get that a car rampage isn't a car accident. The thing is a car isn't intentionally designed to be a deadly weapon. That is misappropriating its purpose. Plus, with a car rampage, you typically only get one shot at it and you kind of need a straight line. Once you bowl over the first lot of people, the jig will be up and everyone will scatter. You need to be in an open space if you plan on turning around and trying again. You are very likely to crash into something. All reasons which make a car a poor choice for mass killing.


And I've actually been at the scene of an attempted car rampage. The dude knocked over a few people then crashed into a cafe, then the crowd turned on him. He didn't kill anyone.

I'm not sure I really see this argument. It probably is too easy to get a driving license in a lot of places, is your argument that there should be less driving regulations because people are still going to die in car accidents regardless of how many driving regulations there are?

No it isn’t. Very few mass shooters choose them – but you are only basing it off the mass shootings that the news covers. Most mass shooters opt for hand guns. Most mass shooters would maximize their deaths with a shotgun. The Vegas shooter would have had a lot more kills with a standard deer hunting rifle.

This is a very important point,becausethe Vegas shooterdidn'tuse a standard deer hunting rifle. The fact he chose AR-15s for a reason. Psychologically, it makes the attackers feel they can kill more people, so they are more likely to carry out the attack.
