TL;DR -started off the workout with a lat pulldown machine for over 5 minutes, almost 2 sets in
-Random dude comes out of nowhere claiming he was using it given the bottle and phone nearby, starts getting extremely hostile after I told him I been using it for a while.
-He started asking to step outside and trying to threaten me.
-I start recording him and threaten him with cops instead.
-Going tomorrow to show the video to higher-ups to get him booted.


First time this has ever happened to me, it felt like
one of those crazy instagram videos, I couldn’t believe it. I went today to do upper body after work. I walked over to one of those large multi-cable stations with lat pull downs, pec deck, etc. I go over to the lat pull down part and notice a random phone and bottle of water on the floor nearby. There was no telling which station was being used given the bottle of water on the floor. Anyways, I have all this time to change out the attachment to a narrow v grip, get a full set in, and resting up until the point I was about to do my second set. Then this random 50 year old looking dude shows up out of NOWHERE getting confrontational right off the bat saying “Naaaa bro naaa haha wtf, I was here” reaching for the attachment to take it off and sitting down while I was standing and resting. I told him “ummm ok dude you were gone for a whole 5 minutes actually” and right away this pos stands back up and gives me this death stare getting close to me. So I back up and I’m just like “Dude you ****ing touch me I’m calling the cops right now and get you for assault, then we’ll see who’s tough.” He then starts laughing trying to mock me trying to say I’m a pansy tattletale. He seemed really amped up and was pacing back and forth walking over to his girl, seeking her validation. Either too much pre workout of something.

Anyways, he started talking **** about my appearance in the gym to get other people to laugh. Apparently he knew some people close by and he was walking over to them talking crap about me. Anyways, I pulled out my phone and started recording him in a very obvious manner and saying “Keep talking. You’re not going to do anything.” He then said on video, “Bro you want to step outside!?! I’m gonna-!” Then I said “You’re gonna WHAT? WHAT are you going to do tough guy?? Grow up dude, 50 year old man acting like a 6 year old. It’s a gym dude, get help, get help dude, it’s a gym. Over here trying to act all tough instead of lifting. You were gone for at least 5 minutes. Is your water bottle working out for you? Is your phone working out for you? Put your hands on me and I will get you behind bars tonight like a little dog.”

Anyways, I have him on video and everything. Unfortunately there was no one at the help desk with it being so late. So tomorrow I’m going to show up and get a hold of someone higher up to show the footage to along with the time it happened. I am pretty sure they can find out who he is given that all members had their picture taken and had to scan to get into the gym that late, but I’m going to do everything I can to get this royal POS either reprimanded, kicked out, etc. I had a pocket knife on me the entire time too (I didn’t reach for it or anything) because I always have to have it on me wherever I go.

5 minutes without a single person, enough time to change the attachment and get ALMOST 2 sets in. I am determined to get this animal taken care of tomorrow so they can find out who he is from the scan log and the gym cameras. People who support that type of animalistic attitude can call me a Karen all they want, it won’t be so funny when I pull out the footage of him saying all that trash on video and trying to threaten me.

Instead of him getting confrontational right off the bat seeing that I was already there at the station and all, he could of just said “Hey I was actually here, my bad I know I’ve probably been gone too long, you can work in if you want.” I would have had no problem.

If the staff can’t find out who he is tomorrow, I swear on my mother’s life I will make sure that the day I see this waste of oxygen in the gym again and the staff also happens to be there, I am going to call him out from a distance, “Hey you’re that animal who was trying to threaten me that one night, I got you acting like an animal on video right here, and the staff is here today. Today is your lucky day!”

In all honesty, gym etiquette, how LONG is TOO long to be away from a ****ing machine? I had time to change the attachment and almost get in my 2nd set. NO ONE was even remotely close by in middle of catching their breath. If you’ve got diarrhea in the restroom and leave a phone and bottle “nearby”, kiss that station goodbye!
