I am old as dirt. Grades 1 -3 we had to say the Lord's prayer before school started.

My grade 3 teacher even used to check every kids fingernails to see if they were clean.

Chaplains can have many qualifications, not just theological. They can be armed guards, military, LE, counselors etc. you could consider them very diverse.

Most likely the reason for the chaplain is because they are capable of monitoring morale, and having one in a school will allow assessment of individuals with greater efficiency. They tend to have very good character, and their values keep them and their people out of trouble. Someone with this background is more likely to identify real problems versus kids being kids, while also protecting them from external harm.

When my wife and I went back to the church, I started to meet some of the most genuine Christians. Not the ones the left screeches about. A lot of really good people. The most surprising about them is their strength of character. Very difficult to anger, generally good with others, well mannered, and make you feel good every time you see them. They remember your name, they approach you or acknowledge you when they see you. They talk to you like they have known you forever.

Now sure why the left hates these qualities so much. Don’t let anyone fool you in to believing that Christians are X, Y, or Z. Such a vast majority are good people. I just think the far left is afraid of Christians because of their big and bold personalities.

I would never force this on to anyone, however, to think that a world of people like that wouldn’t good, is just delusional and/or evil.

Schools can offer resources for lots of things not strictly efficient. Sports teams, spiritual leaders, and other support. I don't really mind if they're not spending some absurd amount.

I think the military also keeps them, and their qualifications are not even required to come from any religion now.

Which would explain why Californian schools failed so miserably during Covid and still are after closing for so long. And Oakland school teachers are now on strike over reparations for black kids. Tue schools are already at the bottom of the liberal cess pool now the schools are closed for the final month of the school year. Still it means they won't be getting molested by the black teachers
