Kind of a sad role, but for drug companies that test on animals, there are animal care positions where you're responsible for tending to (feeding/cleaning cages) of the mice rats rabbits sometimes monkeys.

If you live in a coastal state there are always animal conservation roles where you're taking care of injured seals and general carr for animals at parks (Sea World, Zoos, or even nature reserves in National Parks)....but those roles are really competitive since they usually taken by Marine Biology interns.

Really? That seems like the kind of thing that people would cut back on quickly like fancy coffees and manicures.

I used to have dogs, but would very very rarely use a groomer. It isn't that hard to wash them at home.

Just look at the Phoenix/Scottsdale area listings. I know some groomers making $100k a year but they specialize in show breeds.

Grooming is hard physical work though.

Eh, I worked retail and nursery for years. IDK that I'm interested in having wet hands all the time; mine can get really chapped in winter. But it's something my daughter might like maybe.

Outside of working for a vet, your options for a job in working with animals are pretty limited.

You could go for those wildlife rescue jobs and that sort of thing, but the pay sucks and the opportunities are incredibly limited.

You could try working for the DNR, but again, the job opportunities are pretty limited, and you also basically need a master's degree to do anything in that field at this point.
