We had one last night where two guys were driving and got sprayed. Driver died. Night before that had a drive by with 3 injured and 1 died. Every day there's people making threats to pull out a gun and kill someone. Every day there's at least one traffic stop where extended clips or assault style weapons are seized. Just in my city.

Most mass shootings are not done with JUST pistols. Pistols are personal. Assault weapons aren't personal, they're just to take down as many people as quickly as possible. Shootings in general may have a pistol involved but when you talk about MASS shootings there's going to be a rifle there or an altered pistol which would change its classification to an assault weapon.
