Francis signs with PFL
Ngannou and the P.F.L. announced Tuesday that they had agreed to what they labeled a “strategic partnership,” a deal that gives Ngannou equity and leadership roles in the mixed martial arts company while also letting him pursue outside boxing fights. Ngannou intends to fight a mixed martial arts bout in the P.F.L. in mid-2024, after competing in a boxing ring sometime this year.
None of Ngannou’s fights have been set.
The terms of the deal, including finances and its duration, were not disclosed by Ngannou or the P.F.L. “Let’s just say, all-in my deal with P.F.L. is more than anyone else offered,” Ngannou said.
As part of the agreement, Ngannou will become chairman of P.F.L. Africa, an expansion initiative to produce events on the continent, and will serve on the company’s advisory board to represent fighter interests.

If he had stayed out that 3 fight contract and beaten everyone including Jones he'd be in a much better position for free agent negotiations and public interest.
There is no known competition for Francis in the PFL to generate real interest imo.

Imagine a dude in the NBA tearing their ACL and their team not paying for it. Now imagine the same in basically any other professional sport. UFC treats it's fighters like chit and it's on an unheard level when it comes to big sports.
Also, don't trust ANYTHING the UFC or any other scumbag promoter says regarding numbers and chit. They're all sleazy scumbags. I think the highest disclosed pay any fighter has received is something like 2,5 million.

Now that he's champ he is ducking the number 1 challenger who is basically the white Ngannou because he wants to fight grandpa Stipe. I have zero confidence that Jones was ever down to fight Ngannou.

it was kinda stupid of Francis but it ended up being good for him
apparently in 2-3 fights he will get paid close to 8 figures each, gets to serve as some chairman for upcoming PFL fighters in Africa, I think some sort of equity stake, and a whole bunch of other stuff. more PPV points/revenue. gets to box.

The whole point of White offering Ngannou the $20 million 3 fight contract was for the Jones fight, the other fighters in the division - Blayeds, Stipe, Gane, Lewis - would not generate the same revenue. And Pavlovich or whatever his name is hasn't established himself as a name quite yet.
How do you think guys like Jones and Anderson even became GOATs? They got a title shot when they hadn't established a name for themselves yet, completely destroyed the champ at the time and went on to fight various deserving opponents. None of this instant rematch chit (I guess until Anderson vs. Weidman, technically)
Today's UFC circus is on the level of Djokovic losing the Wimbledon semis and then going on to play the finals anyway cuz they think it might attract more viewers and he's the bigger name. It's a completely ridiculous chitshow.

Good on him tbh. He won't take much damage in PFL, can box and is on the board now should PFL grow into something bigger. Dana Pinkenstein throwing around questionable facts like Power Slap making more views than all the other sports combined in the US is nothing short of laughable.

With a somewhat shallow heavyweight division in the UFC, PFL can build around Francis and make a competitive product.
I'd LOVE to see Francis vs Pavlovich but it probably won't happen.

He said that he wants a tune up fight before fighting Wilder/Fury/AJ. The guy is delusional. If he has a "tune up fight", the fans will see that he is an absolute dog chit boxer and lose interest, or he will lose. There is a high possibility that he loses to any trained boxer, no matter how low level.
When are these fights supposed to take place? We know that the big 4 in boxing are tied up for at least 12 months. The winners and the losers on the proposed December card will likely fight each other. The whole appeal in the first place was the UFC champ, "the baddest man on the planet" taking on a boxer. It will be going on 3 years since he was the UFC champ by the time the fight happens (if it happens) + Jon Jones has something to say.
So he's not going to fight in the PFL for probably 18+ months where he will be 38 years old. Why is everyone so sure that he is a draw btw? His last fight (against Gane), which was promoted like fuk, did 300k PPV buys. The PFL will 100% lose money on this deal. No one, and I mean absolutely no one, cares about an aging Ngannou vs UFC rejects or no-name HWs. It's hilarious how badly they bent over to make this deal happen. They have apparently given him equity in the company, a seat on the board, some stake in PFL Africa (lol), and guaranteed him 7 figures per fight. Just lmao, srs. He has to be an egomaniac to even ask for any of that. He's not doing Conor McGregor numbers. He's not even doing Colby Covington numbers.
Imagine Ngannou vs Jones/Pavlovich/Aspinall. They are blockbuster, legacy defining fights. He ruined his legacy and will not make anywhere near as much money as he thought. People can hate it all they want, the UFC is the machine that makes the fighter. It's why they reinvest so much back into the company.
The PFL has been running at a loss since the WSOF days. This might be their all or nothing play. And when Ngannou's first PPV does 35k buys, it's probably going to be the end.

Whether or not Ngannou made the right decision financially 100% depends on how this boxing thing plays out. If he lands a Fury/Wilder/AJ fight and they do big PPV numbers, then fair enough and good for him. I think there's a very slim chance that happens at this point though.

If you believe this contract is what he says it is then you're retarded. This is basically an ambassador position and he's not going to be getting paid even remotely close to what he says. Near 8 figures? Lmao gtfoh. It's the same as jake Paul's. It's a contract yo draw attention. Think about it logically;
Ngannou wasn't a draw with the biggest fight promotion pushing him (300k buys against gane which had am incredible story and hype behind it)
Ngannou can't go back to the ufc
Ngannou got knocked back from ONEFC
Bellator is irrelevant because pfl is buying them
And the big boxers are all tied up in huge matches to even look at ngannou.
Why would a company throw all of this into a contract to a guy that has no other options?
His opponent is also meant to be getting paid $2mil to fight him. Lmao yeah ok. It'll be over 2 years since his last fight. And Dana is going to bury him. Expect an epic ufc card on whenever ngannou shows up to fight again.
Also pfl are doing like 100-150k ppv buys. Lmao at thinning they're paying ngannou near $10mil

A smart Francis would sign a deal with UFC saying his next fight must be in Africa and then make a backdoor deal with the african nation they choose that will funnel a bunch of tax dollars into his pocket for bringing the ufc to them. just like khabib

I wish Francis luck because I have no issue with a fighter trying to get as much pay as possible, but I just don't see where his options are.
Honestly maybe he should give WWE a go
