Whatever you buy for $10k today will be slower than whatever the mid-tier in the next level of chips will be in 18 months.

Ya it's true but you can't think about it like that.

Just target the performance you need for your display and the tasks you need to do.

I just mostly play fps games, so I have a 3080ti on a 1440p 240hz monitor.

I could upgrade yearly but the games I play are pretty much maxed out for my display. Diminishing returns.

Cpu is a 5950x with 64gb ram because I do digital art and video stuff. Beefy ass cpu that will be good for a long time.

I probably really won't need to touch my pc for like 5+ years, but I also use my leftovers to upgrade my gfs pc so it's an excuse to upgrade every other generation or so.

I disagree.

Let's go back to when I bought my PC parts, srs.

It's late 2020, the only "highest end options" are RTX 3070 8GB $500, RTX 3080 10GB $700, RTX 3090 24GB $1500. Keeping in mind SLI/dual-GPU is not a thing anymore and unhelpful for games. My 3090's 24GB VRAM literally carries this thing into being greatly sufficient for gaming in previous, current, and future generations, particularly where having high amounts of VRAM counts.

The difference is substantial. Once you go 120hz OLED or 144hz+ IPS there's no going back to slower refresh rates for gaming.
Hence why console gaming is chit tier.

Here's my recent build if you're interested. Then youre already into AM5 and you can upgrade from there.

I think I have something like 144hz and I literally don't notice a difference.

My main issue lately has been the upward PSU requirements. I actually made a rule for myself where I won't get a new psu for a decade. I went from 4 or 550 for the 970 to 650 for the 2080 and then 850 for my 3080ti.

I'm done placating Nvidia and if I need to wait a decade to get something stronger than a 3080ti because anything better is >$1000 for the gpu and requires more power I won't do it.

It's insanity that they refuse to optimize power consumption meanwhile consoles work with what they have.

I'm extremely uneducated when it comes to building a PC. Would you happen to know one that is prebuilt already. My biggest worry about building a PC is that I buy the $1,000 processing chip and break it while installing.

I don't play apex legends anymore, but basically am looking for something that will be able to process that with little issues. Mostly am looking for something that has a good processor (no having to wait around) and won't be making too much noise. My current pc sounds like a fan on full blast. Like it struggles to process videos at 480p and when I reset it, I have to wait 20 minutes to get started.

I don't know where you're from but in the Netherlands there's webshops where you buy all the parts and pay a 50-100 euros assembly fee and they ship it to you put together. That's going to get you a better PC than 99% of all prebuilt PCs.

You don't need a 1k cpu for gaming. Games only use like 4-8 threads max, and the difference between most processors is core count (in the same generation). A $300 13600k or 7600x is all you need.

Newegg discontinued its PC Builder Assembly service in June 2022. However, the company still offers its PC Builder tool and Gaming PC finder to help customers find a PC.

Just googled it for the yankee webshop that's most well known to me and you missed out by less than a year. There ought to be other webshops that still offer something like this. I'm sure some helpful miscer will point you in the right direction.

There's countless articles from websites, youtuve, security conventions, and even on reddit from years ago discussing all kinds of security hacks that can backdoor your machine in countless ways through IME, and there's no way to actually disable it.

Pretty sure even AMD has some version of it, though someone more knowledgeable that isn't a troll would be better suited answering whether AMD is vulnerable or not.

But Intel for sure is

Lots of whistleblowers over time have been arrested for content on their computers over the years. This is the part you're free to believe or not.

I edited for clarity but this is basically what even security professionals have concluded.

For AccountingMajor, I hate to suggest it but reddit has a sub called buildapcforme. You tell them your budget and what you want to do with it, what country you live, and they'll put together a machine for you with best current prices and parts from online or local stores.

If you have certsin parts already or preferences of Nvidia Intel or amd you can put that too.

Brah, I also like your responses, but think of me as a legit tard. Would need all the specs. Pre-college, I played console games, in college, I stopped playing altogether, post college, have zero idea about PCs in general, since I only used the cheapo ones they had at Staples or Best Buy.

You really need to ask what kind of games somebody plays before giving this advice. I mainly play strategy games ranging from FM, Civ, EU4, Cities Skylines etc. Those definitely aren't unpopular games at all and for those kind of games the CPU is the bottleneck 99% of the time.

This is 10000% correct. If the intelligence community actually wants to target you, they are going to succeed. Best people in the world using the absolute best tools.

The real issue is hopefully avoiding the thing where your computer is just leaking bulk data to some third party with no cause.

Thanks for letting me know, but it looks like they get all the parts together for you and you have to build it? Damn do you know of any stores that help you build a PC?

This looks like a place sort of near San Diego, do you think they would be able to help? Sorry, I have absolutely no idea, but the misc doesn't usually lead me astray. If anyone can help, please assist in anyway. Misc experts on here know what's up.

That's what I always lead myself to believe and then I'm like fuk, I don't want to break it. But I think I did find a place that can build it for me. I will check back later this month.
