LORDS OF THE FALLEN Gameplay Reveal ft. Iron Maiden

Looks better than I thought, has that "we got Dark Souls at home" vibe, not quite there yet but could be decent, still skeptical but might give it a shot.

Strong berserk reference. Will get.

Love Iron Maiden but not sure that worked. These companies need to chill with modern music.

The original game was a decent souls clone.

I imagine this will also be a decent souls clone.

Looks pretty for sure. The dodges seem "stiff" though, I dunno. Never played the original but really hope this is good.

It was a bit out of place, but love me some maiden, they probably didnt have enough budget to record an original orchestra score like from software

That looks fantastic. Hit feedback on enemies actually looks solid, which is something I feel like most soulslikes tend to completely miss on. Enemy combos look varied and flashy, and the art design looks 10/10. The only things I need them to nail at this point is level design and build variety. If they get those on lock, FROM might have some real competitors for once.

Enemy design thought it was a step down souls but solid enough (blue lightning face thing was legit), after mortal shell I dont get too hyped for souls-like games until proven otherwise

Looks promising over the original, and I guess this is actually a completely different studio with more of a soft reboot, so hopefully it turns out.

I'll definitely wait and see how it progresses. What I've seen of the monster designs is quite nice, so I'm glad that they're leaning into the horrific angle and not going overboard with flashiness. It already looks leagues better than Godfall.

I always love to see Berserk in modern anything.

Agreed on the music. I like Iron Maiden/Fear of the Dark, but itreallytook me out of whatever they were trying to sell.

"Here's our grim soulslike that's starting to get a little Final Fantasy-like with the trailer exposition dump, but also here's a modern song you might remember!"

It's like when they put rap in trailers - it just doesn't fit the thing they're selling, so don't do it. I just hope they didn't pay too much money for a license that could have gone towards a proper orchestral soundtrack.
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

I think original orchestral music would be a lot more expensive, hope in game music is at least ok, combat would be the hardest part to nail IMO... some dark souls clones are very limited on combat/weapons and just make it all clunky, give you some ****ty slow broad sword and call it a day

It's unreal engine 5 so it's probably gonna have performance issues at launch.

Squinting a bit, it seems like theywent for it:

^It says orchestral soundtrack to the right.

Also funny how it says on the statue base, "Dare to Hope," because I really am hoping this turns out good. Like you said, it's thefeelof the combat that will really determine how it stands up. Variety is also something that they need to keep it interesting seeing how much the genre revolves around replaying areas and trying new builds. Not just weapons and armor, but the enemies as well so the whole thing doesn't become boring regardless of how many ways you can kill them.

If they have a 100 page art book, maybe that will translate to a varied, content-rich game.

Also, I'm digging the Dark Souls 1 inspiration for the box art:

Last boss in the trailer bugged me a little tho, lacked detail and reminded of Elden ring's Godrick but poor mans version.
