It's Over

I got brutally roasted by my mother-in-law.

We're down in the kitchen having a conversation when I start talking about needing a hair cut because's it's gotten so long I have to keep it under a hat or slick it back. Otherwise it looks like ****.

Without missing a beat she looks up dead in my eyes and says "oh yeah, you mean like when you wake up in the morning and it's sticking out on the sides and you look like a clown?"

Completely deadpan. Not even a smirk, just goes back to washing dishes and starts humming to herself. Brutal.


The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.
