If this was the 90s and videogames were still about gameplay, combat, system, art direction, art design, then yes, FF16 would be early contender for GOTY.

But it's 2020 and Westoids only love movie games.

Never played an FF game for longer than about an hour. Bought the remake of VII and 15.

VII seems fun so far, but I just havent had much time to play with everything going on right now. 15 looks good, but it just seems so grindy that the moment I begin playing I feel like it is just a series of B-lines collecting and turning things in. I also am not a fan of cringy fan-service. Is it worth sticking through it?

Will definitely give 16 a try, but I am more excited about Armored Core 6.

Final fantasy will be ****.

It is in the category where its gonna be **** that looks amazing but plays like ****, and gets inflated 8/10 scores when really it's a 7.

It's on final fantasy to prove me wrong because it's settled into mind numbing mediocrity for the last 20 years and there's no reason anyone should be hyped about it, even FALLOUT has had better games more recently yet for some reason the FF hype lives on.

Quoted for the truth no one wants to hear. I will NOT fall into this trap anymore. Especially not with the FF franchise. They haven't known where to take these games since 10. 14 being a very rare exception.

I'm playing through FF13 now on PC. After 20 hours the combat system got pretty addicting, with customizing paradigms. Just finished the Rainles boss fight and it was fairly tough. Had to really be smart about when to swap paradigms so the effer doesn't heal himself with Curaga and gives himself super buffs.

Graphics are holding up really really well in 4K.

13 is underrated, gets a lot of hate but graphics were god tier for its time, combat system was strategic and unique, story was convoluted but it wasn't bad at all. really good game

Final fantasy has been moving away from turn based since 10 actually. ATB systems etc and other gimmicks until finally they now are capable of building the systems they actually want.

Anyone that looks at 16 and says they'd rather be picking moves through menus while characters take turns one at a time needs to go. its over.
