Trained how? Like a trained Jiu Justsu guy Joe Schmo? Or like a trained fighter with fight experience?

If he's just a hobbyist I'd have a shot, but if he's an actual amateur fighter or pro, not a chance.

Yeah, that's not a fight. In an actual fight all the big guy has to do is break the dude's fingers and go from there. There is a reason why there are weight classes.

these guys that would train bjj or mma and then think they were tough and try to slip a choke on me at the bar and all you had to do was grab one finger and it was over. I actually had one guy tell me it wasn't allowed... where the phuck you think you are?

Just kills me when I hear these meathead idiots, especially really big guys, who haven't had any real training, espeically not recently, and most of them probably haven't ever been in a real fight unless they had a clear advantage and they probably went on someone they knew they could take if they actually managed to win Most people's fight have been places where they got broken up rather quickly. So most people don't know what they are doing, don't even have a plan on what to do if they were in a fight, and they have actual zero experience being in a real fight where they were fighting someone who was trying to give it back to them. Those haymakers that most big guys throw don't actually do that much, it's all show. Just as well, most of them are in horrible shape and even if they do throw down decently they will be so out of breath they won't be able to finish anything. Most of that 200lbs is fat, the rest is fluff. Most likely they will just get overwhelmed once it gets serious and lose their minds and won't be able to really do that much.

Meanwhile, a trained fighter will probably have a plan, and will build a strategy on what he's going to do, and start applying it keeping a clear head. His 150lbs will probably be mostly muscle and not only that but conditioned, and he will direct it in a way that will actually make him technically be a lot heavier as far as what counts, and all that weight the big dude is throwing around he will just use against him.

Yeah, there's a huge difference between a street fight and a sanctioned match of whatever discipline.

Trained fighters are so much better at dirty streetfighting, such as small joint manipulation, finger breaking, eye pokes, headbutts, biting, attacking the groin and so on, hellz many of them are virtuoso at it lol, because they also have to hide it from the referee.

Weight classes matter when both fighters know what they’re doing to at least similar degree.

There is no difference between mma and real fight for all practical purposes. The only obvious and very intuitive adjustments an mma fighter will make is to be careful protecting his knuckles, because no gloves, and in the self-defense situation savat kneecap kicks and other dirty techniques are all a go, giving the professional fighter even more tools with which to kick your fat ass.

Yes. You are correct, but a 130lbs boxer vs a 250lbs man with six months of judo and boxing experience, the pro boxer is gonna get wrecked in a street fight. In a boxing match, the smaller guy will win by points.

I've sparred with much smaller boxers, and while they have more skill than me, and they can certainly tag me more than I tag them, they don't have the strength to do much, whereas I can punch through their defense.

Apples and oranges. An mma fighter is much better suited for a street fight than a boxer since there is a chance the opponent can grapple.

A serious level small boxer will not only tag you but put you to sleep within three rounds as you will gas, while he is laughing at your punches, since none of them will connect well due to rolling.

Don’t underestimate the pros. It’s a very specific art. And they do it all day every day. They have seen folk like you daily for years. They know how to deal with your size.

Trained, as in years of experience and actually skilled? Hell no I wouldn't believe I can beat them fairly, so if I were getting manhandled by a dude that much smaller than me it wouldn't take more than a few seconds to figure it out, so I'd fight dirty. Grab and punch for the neck instead of the face, bite, spit, whatever.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

good post.

one thing i've personally experienced training in muay thai gyms for 10+ years is this.

there are always 130-150 lb guys who can punch as hard as 200+ lb guys.

always.

size is not always the indicator of how hard someone punches.

there are a lot of small guys who literally punch harder than bigger guys. its an individual thing.

if you've trained with enough people, you'd know this.

Boxing is not MMA. Most great MMA fighters are great on the ground. If you have never trained to defend a takedown, you could be 400 lbs - Khabib would take you to the ground and break your bones

I do think vs boxers or pure strikers of MMA, a 250+ lb great athlete/very strong guy would have a chance to simply overwhelm the 150 lber. That's just such a huge weight and power difference but it would have to be someone very strong and athletic who at least knows how to throw a punch

I agree with this. I've had smaller guys I've rolled with put me in an armbar, but not be able to make me tap. They just didn't have the strength.

Khabib's fighting style could work against a big guy much better than Conors.
Lets do a little size comparison.

Here's khabib standing next to daniel cormier

Here's daniel cormier next to brock lesnar

And here's brock lesnar standing next to shaq

It is also important to note that back in his prime, shaq would break entire ****ing blackboards on accident when he dunked and was renowned for how fast and nimble he was despite his humoungous size. I honestly don't see how khabib can take this guy down, especially considering he openly stated he could never submit daniel cormier when they wrestled because of how big daniel was. Shaq would deadass son him.

I'm 205 right now and moderately trained. 150 lb fighters can ragdoll untrained guys. Even the big and strong ones, untrained, are punching bags or limb pez dispensers.

nah. there are examples of huge fighters in Pride, etc.

those huge guys are so clumsy, slow, and uncoordinated.

DC is literally an elite wrestler. Shaq is just huge heavy and strong.

you can't compare Shaq and DC lol.

i can tell you come to this debate with zero real life fight experience.

Alright. Not talking chit but this is like trying to explain to an incel that looks aren't everything when it comes to attracting sloots. They'll still believe what they want to reinforce their delusion.

No amount of weight is gonna help you against professional fighters with great grappling and wrestling skill if you have zero fighting technique.

I have SOME experience which is why I understand even a 140lb bjj blue belt would beat a 200lb miscer

But it stops at some point. You can have all the skill you want. You can’t tap an incredibly strong and incredibly athletic 400lb man when you’re 155lb

No. Trust me you have no idea. You occasionally rolling with purple belts in your gym don't mean chit. There's a WORLD of fuking difference between someone like Khabib and purple belts in your local BJJ gym.

there's levels, it depends how trained they are.

a ufc fighter? a 125er who weighs probably around 145 is killing some regular 200+ lb joe schmo.

you can be big but you can't take a punch or a kick. you can easily lose balance regardless of size and taken down. you're tapping out regardless when put into a chokehold/submission.
